Henry demonstrates an outstanding level of commitment through excellent attendance and punctuality. He arrives at school each day ready to learn, wearing the school uniform with pride and consistently presenting himself as a positive role model for others. Henry's preparedness, dedication to learning, and pride in being a member of the school community sets a wonderful example for peers and contribute greatly to his ongoing success.
Henry takes ownership of his learning by staying organised and making effective use of his workbooks and classroom resources. He regularly refers to previous learning, applies feedback to improve, and ensures his materials are well maintained and easily accessible. This thoughtful and organised approach supports Henry's learning and enables him to achieve success across all areas of the curriculum.
As a valued member of the classroom and school community, Henry works collaboratively with others and consistently demonstrates kindness, respect, and leadership. He takes great pride in supporting his Prep buddy, showing patience, encouragement, and care while helping younger students feel confident, included, and supported.
Throughout the year, this Studio 14 student has worked incredibly hard to develop positive coping strategies when feeling anxious or uncertain. Henry should be very proud of the resilience and determination he has shown when facing challenges. His willingness to apply these strategies and persevere through difficult situations has resulted in significant personal growth and growing confidence in his abilities.

August 10th, 2026 Gracie
Today we are very proud to present the school value award for Excellence to Gracie!
This student is a bubbly, kind and happy member of our class who brings a smile wherever she goes. Gracie is always polite, friendly and ready to have fun and a laugh with her friends. She is consistently showing excellence through the way she treats others and approaches her learning, always with a positive attitude.
What makes this person so special is her fantastic attitude towards life and learning, Gracie is always willing to give things a go! Whether it is something new, something tricky or something that might not be her favourite, she approaches it with enthusiasm and a “why not?” attitude.
Gracie especially enjoys reading non-fiction books and discovering new and interesting facts, particularly about animals. Her curiosity and eagerness to learn show us that excellence isn't about getting everything perfect — it's about having a go, being open to new experiences and always doing your best.
Outside of school, Gracie loves spending time with her family on the weekends, often at the farm, and she treasures the time she gets to spend with her friends at school. Your character costume on Friday as ‘Wednesday Addams’ was amazing and was yet another wonderful example of your willingness to get involved, have fun and take on new challenges with such a positive attitude.
One of the things we love most about Gracie is that we have never heard her say a bad word about anyone or anything. Her kindness, enthusiasm, curiosity and wonderful attitude make her a true example of Excellence. We are so lucky to have you and your fun attitude in Studio 3.

A big THANK YOU to Adrian Perry for hosting our Trivia Night. It was a huge success. A night of dress up and fun. It just put us well on our way to obtaining the Gaga Pit for our school.

KYNETON DAFFODIL & ARTS FESTIVAL – Sunday 13th September
Stall Volunteers Needed
9:30 – 11.00
Setting up - We will be setting up the stalls (tables/marquees) 2-4 helpers.
10:30 - 2:30
Taking Orders, Payment and Assembly Pork Rolls – It gets very busy!
- We need 2 people at the cake stall at all times, in 1 hour shifts.
- We will always need 4 helpers on the pulled pork stall, in 1 hr shifts.
2:30-3:30
Pack down Packing down tables and help loading supplies into vehicles.

Items will be sold for $2 or $5, so please make portions an appropriate size for these prices.
A few important notes:
- All baked goods must be clearly labelled with a full list of ingredients.
- We would love to have some gluten-friendly and dairy-friendly options available.
- Unfortunately, we cannot sell items containing fresh cream or quiches.

KPS in the Grand Parade – Join Us!
This year, the KPS Parents & Friends are excited to be coordinating our school’s entry in the Grand Parade. We’re seeking families from across all year levels to walk in the parade. Children must be supervised while attending. It’s a great way to be part of the KPS community – and maybe even make some new friends! Staff are also encouraged to join.
📍 Meeting Point: Kyneton Showgrounds – We will have a School Banner to walk behind
🕦 Time: Meet from 11.30am – Parade begins at 12.30pm
The parade theme is “Bold and the Beautiful” so we’d love to see as many KPS students as possible dressed in yellow, gold, or something bright. Some of the students have already made a Bold and Beautiful neckless to wear during the parade. Please feel free to make streamers to help us celebrate the parade.

Did you know we offer Chia Seed Puddings for just $2?
They’re a delicious little treat and can be found in the Canteen menu under “Fruit, Nibbles and Treats.”
Weekly Special — Frittata
For the remainder of the term, our Weekly Special is a delicious homemade Vegetable or Vegetable & Ham Frittata for just $3!
Packed full of flavour and protein, our frittata is also gluten-friendly. It’s a great option for a tasty and satisfying snack or lunch.
You can find it under “Weekly Special” on the Canteen menu.

Upcoming Wellbeing & Literacy Special Dates
We are looking forward to several important whole-school events this term that celebrate kindness, reading, and connection. Families are invited to support students by participating in the themed dress days below.

To promote the importance of checking in with one another and supporting mental wellbeing, students are encouraged to wear a touch of yellow.

2027 Foundation Enrolments
Do you have a child starting Prep in 2027, or do you know someone in our community who does?
A friendly reminder that applications for 2027 Prep enrolments are now due. If you have friends, family members or neighbours with a child starting school next year, we'd appreciate you helping us spread the word and reminding them of this important enrolment deadline.
Families interested in enrolling at Kyneton Primary School are warmly invited to book a one-one school tour with our Principal Alistair Rayner by calling the school office or emailing kyneton.ps@education.vic.gov.au.

NAPLAN Results Ready for Collection
We still have quite a few NAPLAN reports still awaiting collection at the office for our Year 3 and Year 5 students.
These reports will be sent home with your child next week. If you do not wish for this to happen, please come and collect them yourself or let the office know.
We are not able to get copies of these reports so please ensure they are kept in a safe place as they may be needed for future high school enrolment.
Spare clothing and return of borrowed clothes
As we move into the wetter winter months, we are seeing an increase in muddy and wet conditions around the school grounds. Students are regularly reminded to stay away from muddy and wet areas during break times, and we would appreciate your support in reinforcing this message at home.
To help keep students comfortable throughout the day, we strongly encourage families to pack a spare change of clothes in their child's school bag, including socks and underwear where possible. Providing a change of clothes helps us to avoid having to send students home to be changed or contact families during the school day to bring replacement clothing to school.
We would also like to remind families to please return any borrowed clothing that has been sent home with your child. Our supply of spare clothes is becoming limited, and returning items promptly helps ensure we can support students who may need a change of clothing during the school day.
If you have any spare black pants/tracksuit pants, we would be very graful to include these in our spare clothing stock. All sizes are appreciated.
Volunteer Induction Information
We welcome and value volunteers at KPS. Part of the process of becoming a volunteer is completing an induction with us.
If you wish to volunteer your time for any reason, please complete the induction pack below before your first visit.

Medical Information and Medication Requirements
If your child requires medication at school, a medication authority form needs to be completed, and medication needs to be brought to the office to be stored safely. A first aid officer will be assigned to administer the medication. Students should not carry medication in their school bags.
Uniform Ordering
Uniforms can be purchased in-store from Lowes in Lansell Square in Kangaroo Flat. Orders can also be placed online at www.lowes.com.au. Please see the price list below
Students Arriving Late
Students arriving late to school should come to the office, accompanied by an adult, and sign in either on the Compass Kiosk or in the late book. They will then be issued a late pass to take to class, and their arrival at school will be updated on the roll. This will avoid parents/guardians receiving notification that their child is not at school when they have arrived late.
Early Collection of Students from School
We understand that there are many reasons why you might need to collect students from school early, however, we ask that you please keep these to a minimum where possible.
Our school PA system works by buildings so when an announcement is made it will be heard throughout the whole building and the closest relocatable classroom. These announcements are very disruptive, especially when some days announcements are being made on numerous occasions within short periods. These disruptions have an impact on student learning.
We ask for your assistance with some strategies to assist with this matter:
- Email the teacher and the office early in the day with the time you will be collecting your child/ren so we can, hopefully, have them waiting at the office for you.
- When possible, collect your child just before recess (11 – 11:40am) or lunchtime (1:40 – 2:20pm) rather than during the middle of class times.
- Announcements for collecting children will not be made during class time. If you need to collect your child during class time please come to the office to sign your child/ren out as an early departure and then go to the classroom to collect them.
We understand there can be emergencies, however, we hope you will give your support and enable all children to receive as much learning as possible.
School Gates and Opening Times
Our school gates open at 8:45am each day with classes commencing at 9am. School grounds can be accessed via the Edgecombe St pedestrian gate, the kindergarten ramp and the back gate at the bottom of our basketball courts. Please DO NOT use the staff car park or stairs to access the school.
Accessing Compass
Compass is our main way of communicating with our families. It is important that parents access the Parental Portal in Compass at https://kynetonps.vic.jdlf.com.au
Using our parent portal will enable you to –
- View up-to-date class and school attendance information
- Approve or enter upcoming or past absences for your son/daughter
- Update your registered email and mobile number (used for SMS alters)
- Access information regarding upcoming events and news
- Access your child’s Semester Reports
- Book your Parent/Student/Teacher conferences
We encourage families to download the Compass App and to enable notifications to ensure you receive all communications.
Please click on the “Welcome to Compass” booklets for further assistance or contact the office.
Carpark Safety
We would like to address some important safety concerns regarding carpark use, and we kindly ask for your cooperation.
Kindergarten Carpark
Please do not park in the kindergarten carpark. This carpark is reserved exclusively for kindergarten families. If you have both kindergarten and school-aged children and need to park there, please ensure you use the ramp to access the school grounds.
Please also note that the large gate at the end of the kindergarten car park and the school is locked and should not be used to access the school — children should not be lifted over the gate under any circumstances.
School Carpark
The school carpark has vehicles moving in and out throughout the day. For safety reasons, we ask that pedestrians do not use the stairs near the flag poles and then walk through the carpark as a shortcut. The designated ramp or steps are to be used when entering or exiting the school.
