Library

Hello everyone,

A few updates from the library:

Scholastic Book Club:

Issue #6 is being put in teacher pigeon holes today and should be going home either this afternoon or tomorrow. All orders, physical or online are due no later than the end of the day on Friday the 28th of August.

To order from Book Club, you can either lodge the order online via LOOP (instructions are on the back of the catalogue) or you can hand your filled out form and pay for it at the front office.

I only have a certain number of times that I can get deliveries with free shipping, so at the very latest your child’s order should arrive 2 weeks after the closing date.

If you need a spare, you can ask for one at the front office but please be aware that there is a limited supply of them.

Book Week:

As you may have seen from my Class Dojo posts, Book Week is fast approaching and is now happening in Week 8 instead of Week 7. Our costume parade will be held after our normal Friday assembly on the 4th of September and I have set a calendar event with reminders on Class Dojo.

Costumes are always welcome whether they’re outfits inspired by characters, hand made at home, thrifted or bought. And you still have plenty of time to work with your children for their costumes!

Dymocks Children’s Charities:

Our school has been fortunate enough to receive $10’000 from Dymocks Children’s Charities (DCC) to go towards buying brand new books for the library and the classroom libraries! This means roughly 500 new books will be coming to our school and will greatly benefit our students here.

DCC is also running a design competition asking students to design posters about books, reading and libraries that closes next Monday (17th). There are a number of prizes available including the chance to win 1 of 3 cash voucher prizes for buying books, a prize pack from school, and every submission to the actual DCC competition puts our school one step closer to potentially winning a voucher to buy books as well.

You can find out more about the competition, download the template and submit your child’s work on the DCC website here: https://www.dymockschildrenscharities.org.au/design-competition

Happy reading and creating everyone!
