Book Fun Day

Following on from our author visits earlier in the term, Book Fun Day last week was a lot of fun. It was great to see the wide variety of outfits and the effort that went into the costumes this year was impressive. Congratulations to all our award winners across the day, including those who took home prizes for best costume and our writing awards. Thank you to all the parents and carers who helped put the outfits together and came along to our special assembly. A special shout out to all our staff who contributed to the day’s activities, in particular Lou Tribolet for all her hard work organising the day.

Science Day

Science Day in Week 6 was another fantastic event. Like Book Fun Day, student outfits were equally creative, and it was great to see all our students participating in the hands-on activities in their classrooms. The highlight for our students though was the reptile incursion. Having a live crocodile, a snake, and a host of other animals on site was a massive hit, and exactly the kind of experience that gets students genuinely excited about science. Thanks again to all the parents who spent time working with their children to create the outfits and to our staff, in particular Tanya Stansfield, for their work in preparing the day’s activities.

Arriving on Time

We have noticed an increasing number of students arriving just after the morning bell over the last few weeks.

The start of the school day is crucial. It is when students unpack, catch up with their friends, and hear the teacher's plan for the morning. Walking in late often leaves kids feeling flustered and playing catch-up before the first lesson has even really begun.

Those small delays also add up quickly. If a student is just 10 minutes late each day, that equals 50 minutes a week. Over a school year, that equates to more than 33 hours of missed class time which is nearly a full week of school. Please help us set your children up for a positive day by aiming to have them at school just a few minutes before the bell goes.

Parent Opinion Survey

Thank you to those families who have already completed the Parent Opinion Survey. This is open to all families, with the Department of Education asking that there is only one response per family. We genuinely appreciate your feedback and would love as many families as possible to complete the survey as this will help shape our planning for next year and beyond. The survey closes on Friday 18th September and all information you need can be found in your Compass news feed.

Father’s Day Breakfast

We are looking forward to celebrating our dads and special people at the Father’s Day Pancake Breakfast event this Friday morning. Bring your kids, grab a pancake and a hot drink from 8.30am in front of the gym and go into the draw to win a special Father’s Day gift - see you there!
