Update from Family and Friends of Altona College

We have been busy this term with some fun events creating a sense of community, connection and raising some money along the way.

Primary Disco - 7 August 2026

We had a wonderful turn out for the school disco this term.  We transformed some of the classrooms into a dance space, put on some music and let the kids find their fun.  It was great to see the kids having a great time with their friends, dancing, laughing and singing along.

Our thanks go to Fruits of the Meadows and Heinz for their donations.

Comedy Night – 31 August 2026

This social night was a great success!  A sellout crowd, 3 great comedians, a great location – what more could we need? 

The comedy night was about bringing the community together, creating connection away from the stress of pick up and drop off.  It was a chance to socialise, laugh and have some fun.

We had parents, friends, teachers, neighbours from the Hub and some members of the wider community.  It seemed our headline act Ben Knight was a huge draw card!  Ben was supported by Aaqib Merchant, David Rose and Ben Knight.

It was a great night that seemed to be enjoyed by all.

Many thanks to Meabh McAndrew for all of the hard work in bringing the event together and Hayden and Kerry for their hard work in ensuring that we had lighting and sound for the event!  

Special thanks to Altona RSL for hosting the event.

Father’s Day Stall – 3 September 2026

It was that time again where we set up our stall for all of the students to attend to purchase gifts for the special people in their lives.  It is such fun to see the kids carefully make their selections.  We do wonder how many of the sweet treats are actually purchased for Dad!

Thank you to the following Mum’s who helped on the day: Juanita Martin, Pia Addison, Zalia Polites, Bec Camilleri, Rachel Weber, Jess Giampiccolo.

We will share the final figures of the amount these events have raised when we have it.  We are looking for ideas on how this money could be used across the school.  If you have any suggestions, please send an email to altonafundraisingcommittee@gmail.com

Finally, a very special thank you to Casey Sperling for her ongoing support to all of our events and fundraising efforts.  We absolutely could not do any of these events without her hard work and dedication to the students.  Thank you so much!
