Fr Andrew’s St. Clare Bread.

It was a wonderful treat to have Fr Andrew pop into school on Tuesday with some freshly baked St. Clare bread to celebrate the Feast of St. Clare of Assisi.

Fr Andrew recalled Sisters from the Poor Clares following this tradition in his town when he was a young boy and it was a pleasure to share a moment or prayer and reflection with Fr Andrew and staff at our Tuesday meeting.

Fr Andrew shared the below information regarding St. Clare Bread- One day Pope Gregory IX visited St. Clare at San Damiano Monastery near Assisi for the meal which consisted of a small loaf of bread and a cup of water. At the command of the Pope, St. Clare blessed the loaves and at once there appeared on each one the Sign of the Cross. In memory of this touching miracle, it is customary on the feast of St. Clare to bless bread, which is highly valued by the people.

Prayer of St Clare of Assisi-

Blessed St. Clare,

faithful follower of Christ and lover of the poor, help us to live with humility, simplicity, and love.

Pray for us that we may have a strong and steadfast faith, the courage to face our trials,

and the grace to remain close to Jesus.

Protect our families and loved ones, bring peace to troubled hearts, and intercede for those who are sick, suffering, or in need.

St. Clare, help us to seek God above all things and to reflect His light and love in our daily lives.

St. Clare of Assisi, pray for us.

Amen.
