Dear Parents,
Concert Celebration
Last week was one to remember at Bathurst Public School, with our students showcasing their talents both on stage and beyond.
On Thursday evening, our students proudly presented ICONS, our 2026 school concert. From Kindergarten to Year 6, every student played an important role in creating a spectacular production that celebrated music, storytelling and performance. It was wonderful to see the confidence, enthusiasm and teamwork displayed by our students, and the positive feedback from our school community has been overwhelming.
A heartfelt thank you to our staff, who dedicated countless hours to planning, rehearsing and preparing for the concert, and to our families for your ongoing support and encouragement. Your partnership helps make opportunities like these so special for our students.
Festival of Choral Music
On Friday, 18 members of our school choir travelled to Sydney to perform in the Festival of Choral Music at the iconic Sydney Opera House. Performing alongside more than 700 students from across New South Wales, our choir sang a challenging repertoire of two-part harmony, including songs in Dharug and Spanish. They represented Bathurst Public School with pride and should be incredibly proud of their achievement. Thank you to Mrs Cafe and Mrs Datt for your work with our choir.
Book Week Parade
Next week, in Week 5, we will celebrate Book Week. This year's theme is 'Symphony of Stories'. We will hold our Annual Book week parade and Book Fair on Tuesday 18th August. The Book Week parade will commence at 11.40am under the COLA. Our front gate will be open from 11.30am. The Book Fair will be held in the annexe (office building, with ramp access) at the conclusion of the Book Parade.
Families can purchase books via pre-payment online at www.scholastic.com.au/book-fairs/payments/ making sure the receipt number is provided to the school prior to the Book Fair. Children sent with money on the day will be able to purchase books from 9.15am-11am and parents/carers and children will be able to visit the Book Fair at the conclusion of the book parade. We encourage all children to dress up for the book parade as a book character and welcome all families to come and support us.
Girls Soccer
Wishing our Girls Soccer Team and their coach, Mrs Sarah White, the best of luck as they travel to Mudgee tomorrow to take on Mudgee Public School in their Regional Semi Final. We are all cheering you on!

Check-in Assessments
In Week 6, students in Year 3-6 will participate in the Check-in assessment.
The Check-in assessment is a NSW Department of Education online literacy and numeracy assessment available to support schools to assess and monitor student learning.
The assessment can supplement existing school practices to identify how students are performing in literacy and numeracy and to help teachers tailor their teaching more specifically to student needs. Students with disability may receive the same level of support during the assessment they would normally receive in the classroom.
- The assessment will be scheduled for our Year 3-6 students during Week 6
- All students complete a reading assessment and a numeracy assessment. Year 6 students will also complete a writing assessment.
Spotlight on Attendance
As the colder weather settles in, we’ve seen a rise in illness and student absences. If your child is unwell and unable to attend school, please record their absence via the Parent Portal. Your support helps us maintain our excellent rate of explained absences—thank you for keeping our records up to date.
