School Council Meeting 27th November 2023

School Council met on the evening of 27th November and were presented with the following reports from our subcommittees and the Principal’s report from Jarrod.

Junior School Council

JSC have had two meetings since the last school council meeting and have been discussing the role and purpose of JSC and creating a charter.  It looks like great progress has been made over the two meetings and a clear understanding of the themes and roles wanted in a charter have been noted awaiting consolidation into a written piece.

JSC also discussed the recently held fun run and plan to conduct a survey to share at a future assembly.

Principal’s Report

Jarrod started his report with some staffing news including the appointment of Elisha Katsonis as substantive Assistant Principal to commence in January 2024.  This is very exciting news for the school and completes the leadership team to take the school forward into the years ahead.

A capital works update was provided with the works due to commence soon.  We are waiting on the official communication to the school community to be approved by the VSBA which Jarrod is hoping to have and distributed before the building begins.

Resources Committee Report

The Treasurer provided his report detailing the financial position of the school and discussions had around the upcoming Christmas Raffle, Book Pack lists and grounds updates (including unfortunate vandalism to the Tiger Turf on November 12th).

Community Engagement Report

The Community Engagement committee met and discussed the pathway to Expressions of Interest for Parent Reps for 2024, a position vital to the effective communication at a classroom level for parents.  The dates for the first three social/fundraising events of 2024 were also locked in ready to begin planning for these magnificent social occasions.

School council has one more meeting on 18th December to finish the year.
