2025 VCE Head Start

Students currently in Years 10 and 11 in 2024 will take part in the Head Start program, which runs for the last 2 weeks of Term 4, commencing on Monday, 25 November 2024, and finishing on Friday, 6 December 2024.

The purpose of the program is to provide Year 10 and 11 students with a ‘Head Start’ in their 2025 VCE learning programs. This means that these students commence work with their 2025 VCE classes, teachers, and timetables early, in the closing weeks of 2024. By undertaking the Head Start program, students gain a significant advantage in their studies.

Additionally, students have an opportunity to establish relationships with their teachers and peers, as well as maximise learning time by covering additional content ahead of time. The Head Start program also injects fresh energy and motivation into learning, allowing teachers to build on the previous year’s learning in a more cohesive and connected way.

New senior students joining the College in 2025 are encouraged to take part in the Head Start program and communication about this has been sent to our incoming new families.

Students in Years 7-9 this year will remain in their regular classes and continue their 2024 learning programs for the remainder of Term 4. This approach allows these students to finish the year with their current teachers. By staying with their existing classes and teachers, students can consolidate their learning, complete any outstanding assessments, and finish their 2024 curriculum in a familiar and supportive environment. This ensures a smooth conclusion to the academic year for our younger students and prepares them for a successful transition into their next year of study.

If you have any further questions, please reach out to your child’s current Homeroom teacher, Year Level Coordinator, or Head of School.

Exam Catch Up and Marking Day

We would like to remind families that tomorrow, Friday 22 November, we have a designated exam catch up and marking day. The day is provided to allow our Middle School and Senior School students to complete exams that they missed, whilst also providing our staff with an important opportunity to mark student assessments and complete student reports across all Year Levels.

To facilitate this, the day has been designated as having no scheduled classes for all students. For students in Years 9-11 who are required to complete any missed exams, our Year Level Coordinators will have contacted their families. If you are unsure whether your son is required to catch up an exam, please reach out to your Year Level Coordinator.

Speech Night and Academic Awards Assembly

This year, we are excited to once again be hosting our College Speech Night, which will be held on Monday 9 December, in the St Patrick's College Performing Arts Centre.

This special evening celebrates the diverse achievements of our students, including:

  • Community-based awards
  • Co-curricular achievement awards
  • Year Level Dux and Proxime Accessit
  • Religious Education awards
  • Academic Distinction awards

Families will receive further communication about Speech Night during Week 9, once academic results have been finalised. Additionally, our Chris Nolan Academic Awards (recognising the top 10% of students across all subjects) and Subject Dux Awards will be presented during a dedicated Academic Assembly in Term 1, 2025. Families of these award recipients will be notified early next year.

We look forward to celebrating the remarkable accomplishments of our students with you!
