Welcome back- 2026

Dear Parents and Carers,
We are now just over a week into the new school year and it has been a fantastic start. One of the great pleasures of my role is greeting students as they arrive each morning. After the summer break, it is always wonderful to see how much they have grown and to share in their excitement as they eagerly talk about their holidays, adventures, and favourite movies. Their enthusiasm has certainly set a very positive tone for the year ahead.
As we progress through Term 1, there are several important events and opportunities coming up. Our annual Back to School BBQ will be held on Tuesday 11 February from 5:00–6:00pm. A flyer should have come home yesterday, or by today at the latest, and we hope many families can join us for this relaxed and social evening.
Student Support Group (SSG) meetings will take place over a two-week period from Monday 24 February to Friday 7 March. These meetings provide a valuable opportunity to meet with your child’s classroom teacher to discuss how they have settled into the school year and to set shared goals moving forward. Please keep some time available during this period to participate.
Parents and carers also play a vital role in supporting the school through involvement in School Council. We warmly encourage nominations to join this important group. School Council meets onsite twice per term in the evening, with meetings generally running for around two hours. It is a great opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the school, our programs, and the behind-the-scenes work that supports our community. Further information will be sent home shortly. Nominations open on Tuesday 10 February and close on Tuesday 25 February. Please feel free to contact the school if you would like to learn more.
Student voice continues to be a strong focus for our school. One key way students can contribute to the future direction of the school is through the Student Representative Council (SRC). Over the next three weeks, all classes will participate in a nomination process. Successful students will meet fortnightly with the principal to discuss issues and ideas that are important to them. I encourage families to talk with their children about this opportunity to support their confidence and willingness to nominate.
Finally, thank you for your support of the two student-free days at the beginning of the year. This time allowed staff to engage in thorough planning, strengthen welfare and curriculum structures, and ensure everything was in place to welcome students back successfully. This preparation has certainly contributed to the smooth and positive start to the school year.
I look forward to catching up with many of you at the Back to School BBQ.
