Sun Protection - all year round
Staff and students are encouraged to access, display and communicate the daily local sun protection times via the SunSmart widget on the school’s website, sunsmart.com.au or bom.gov.au.
The sun protection measures listed in this policy are used for all outdoor activities during the daily local sun protection times. Implementation only in Terms 1 and 4 is insufficient to protect against UV exposure risks.
CSPS leadership and staff acknowledge the importance in reducing harm from smoking and vaping. Providing a smoke and vape-free environment contributes to the overall health and wellbeing of the students, staff and families related to the school. Please see the ratified School Council policy relative to being a Smoke and Vape-Free school.
Safety at School Crossing and Kiss and Go
There have been reports of students bouncing balls at the School Crossing and Kiss and Go areas, including at the start of the day, waiting for the gate to open. Please remind your child(ren) that:
- all balls are to be in school bags or held firmly until they enter the school grounds
- balls that roll onto the road are to be left for an adult to collect. If this occurs, balls will be confiscated and reported to the Principal class.
Students are NOT allowed at the Cranbourne South General Store without an adult/parent present. Once students arrive at school, they are to remain inside the school grounds. Any student who purchases items from the General Store without a parent present, will be reported to the Principal class for followup.
Students are not to bring 'excessive' amounts of lollies or sugary drinks to school for consumption, either from home or purchased at the General Store. Teachers have the support of the Principal class to confiscate such items and/or report to the Principal class for follow up.
