Around the Classrooms

In Literacy, we have been using our knowledge of letters and sounds to sound out and read words, which allows us to read books independently. We have also been creating simple sentences with ‘who, what doing and where’.

In Maths, we are exploring numbers to 20. We are learning to count forwards and backwards, write numerals, count collections and partition numbers into groups. We also explored 2D shapes in our environment and sorted them based on their features.

In Inquiry, our focus has been Physical Science where we have been learning about our 5 senses. We have learnt that sound and light travel in waves, food can taste sour, bitter, sweet or salty and that smells can make us remember special events or things. We are now using our knowledge of sound to make our own musical instrument that makes either a loud or soft noise.

We also had a visit from the local Police and Firefighters who explained their role in the community and how we can stay safe. We got to sit in the Police car and Fire truck and use the fire hose!

In Religion, we have learnt about the Church and how we are all part of the family of God. We learnt about Pentecost and how we can be inclusive of everyone, just like Jesus.
