School News

2nd June 2025   Daphne

This week’s Superhero is receiving the award for the school values of persistence and respect.

Daphne has a kind heart and displays thoughtful actions and a respectful attitude towards her classmates and teachers. She leads by example, always using polite words, listening carefully, and treating others as she would like to be treated. Daphne's kindness and respect make our classroom a better place for everyone. She is growing into a very caring and thoughtful young person.

Daphne has started Prep with a bang! She has demonstrated incredible persistence and resilience in the face of challenges. Even with a broken bone, she kept showing up with a smile, trying her best, and never giving up on her learning. Her determination and positive attitude have inspired her classmates and teachers alike.

We are so proud to have you in Studio 5B.

Congratulations to our first Prep Superhero for this year, Daphne.

School Saving Bonus- Important Information

The SSB Parent Portal will close at the end of June.

This means Parents/Guardians will no longer have access to the portal.

What you should do now –

  • If you would like to use SSB for uniforms, place orders now as you will not be able to use SSB for uniforms after June.
  • Transfer any remaining funds in the portal to Activities.

While funds remaining in the portal will automatically transfer to the school for use for your child/ren this will not happen until the end of August. This means the school will not be able to access these funds so you will need to pay for any excursions or events during this time.

School Uniforms - Change of Ownership

Our uniform distributor, A Plus Schoolwear, has sold the company to Lowes from the 1st July 2025. The manufacturing still remains with AGS Prints so you will not see any changes to the style or quality of our uniforms.

Uniforms will still be available for purchase online and will be delivered to your home rather than the school. There will be no delivery charge for the remainder of the year, however there will be a $10 charge from 2026. Prices of uniforms remain unchanged for this year.

Purchases will be able to be made directly from Lowes at Lansell Square in Kangaroo Flat, Bendigo, who will hold a full range in all sizes.

Lowes offer special sale days throughout the year and a reward and zero card system.

Further information will be provided by Lowes before the end of term.

Vegemite Day – year 3 / 4

There was such a buzz in Bunjil recently as they enjoyed a day devoted to Vegemite!

The ‘Happy Little Vegemite Program’ presents incursions to schools. The students, who have a Science focus this term, learnt all about the Science behind the creation of Vegemite.

Throughout the day the students also painted with Vegemite, cooked with Vegemite and learnt the song. Families joined the classes in the afternoon as the unit had a Q and A about Vegemite with Jamie (the grandson of Cyril Callister, the inventor of Vegemite), sang the song together and then got to sample the tasty treats.

We can safely say that everyone was A Happy Little Vegemite!

2026 Foundation Enrolments

We are now accepting enrolments for our 2026 Foundation students. If your family has a child who will be commencing school next year please stop by the office to collect an enrolment pack.

We request that all 2026 enrolment forms are submitted by the end of June to allow planning of our transition program.

If you know anyone in the community wishing to enrol their child for next year, please encourage them to book in a tour or visit us to collect an enrolment pack.

Student Council News – Food Drive & Pyjama Day

Student Council is running a food drive to support the Kyneton Foodbank (The Kindness Collective). We are seeking donations of non-perishable items such as pasta, rice, sauces, curry pastes, tinned tomatoes, canned vegetables, and other ingredients that can be used to make warm, hearty meals this winter. Donations can be dropped off in the school foyer.

To support this important cause, we are also holding a Pyjama Day on Friday, June 27. Students are invited to wear their pyjamas to school and bring a gold coin donation. All proceeds will go directly to the Kyneton Foodbank.

Thank you for your support.

Canteen News

As the weather cools, the school canteen is introducing a new Hot Chocolate drink, available for order through the Qkr! app. Students can collect their drinks at either recess or lunchtime.

In addition to the new beverage offering, the canteen is launching a sustainability initiative. Students who order sushi are encouraged to bring a clean, reusable container labelled with their name. This practice aims to reduce single-use packaging waste, lower packaging expenses, and promote environmental responsibility among students. Such initiatives align with broader efforts to create eco-friendly school canteens by reducing food waste.

These steps not only contribute to environmental sustainability but also provide educational opportunities for students to engage in responsible practices.
