It's getting cold outside .......

It is hard to believe we are already over halfway through Term 2—a term that continues to showcase the wonderful connections we build with our students through enriched, inclusive learning activities.
At Naranga, we pride ourselves on fostering an inclusive school community where all members feel valued and supported to fully participate, learn, develop, and succeed. As a school, we focus on building the knowledge and skills of our staff and providing clearer guidance and specialist support to better meet the needs of every learner.
Under the guidance of our School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) team, our teachers implement a weekly school ‘spotlight.’ Each spotlight focuses on teaching and encouraging positive behaviour, supporting all students, and providing extra help to those who need it. By doing so, SWPBS helps improve student behaviour, wellbeing, and academic outcomes. This week’s spotlight focused on being safe and keeping our hands, feet, body, and objects to ourselves. While this can be a challenging concept for some students, it is an important one that explicitly teaches the value of safety.
The weekly spotlights also support teachers by offering strategies to manage classrooms more effectively, reduce disruptions, and allow more time for teaching and learning.
Mid-cycle reports will be available shortly. Our teachers are working hard to finalise assessments and complete comments. Student Support Group (SSG) meetings are scheduled for Week 8. These meetings provide a valuable opportunity to discuss student progress and address any questions you may have about the learning programs at Naranga School. Please contact your child’s homeroom teacher to make an appointment.
As the weather has turned very cold, we’ve unfortunately seen a wave of illness among both staff and students over the past week. On some days, this has required us to make changes to classes and timetables. One advantage of our split-grade structure and specialist teachers is that your child is still taught by a Naranga staff member who knows them well and is a familiar face. We will continue to communicate any changes with our school community.
On Thursday, we conducted a scheduled school Emergency Management drill. The students managed the drill very well as we practised using new exit points due to our new playground access.
Stay warm everyone!
