Homework

Homework for Term 4 will continue to be on Google Classroom. It will follow the same format as Term 3.

Most weeks Year 3/4  homework will consist of 4 components:

  1. Religion - this will be a corresponding date page in their diary.

  2. Reading – All children are required to read 5 nights a week for at least 15 - 20  minutes.  This must be recorded in their diary with the book title and the page numbers read example  ‘13 Story Treehouse’ pgs 1-25. ‘ Children must bring their diary to school every day to be checked and signed by an adult.

  3. Spelling – A minimum of  3 spelling activities must be completed every week.

  4. Mathematics - This Maths homework may take the format of Term 3, where the students practiced work taught within the classroom from our Daily Reviews or it may be a separate activity. Both Year 3 and Year 4 will be focusing on Money at the beginning of the term, so there will be a different activity sent home to replace the regular Maths homework once this has occurred.

Please Note: We are also trialing a new program, IXL, here at St Brigid’s and we will be exploring how this might look for homework, so your child might have homework set within this program at times during Term 4.

If your child has not completed their homework please email your class teacher to let them know. We will also be instigating “Homework Club” on Fridays. This means if your child does not complete their homework and there is no email or note in the diary they will need to complete one related activity during recess or lunchtime on Friday. The purpose of the homework is to begin to prepare the students for Year 5/6 and high school, so it is suggested that together with your child you work out a schedule of when their homework can be completed.
