Students have completed an author study unit on Mem Fox, gaining a deeper appreciation for her warm, lyrical storytelling and thoughtful themes. Throughout the unit, they explored how her stories celebrate family, belonging, and imagination, while also noticing her use of repetition, rhythm, and engaging characters to draw readers in. By analysing multiple texts, discussing illustrations, and reflecting on her messages, students developed text-to-text and text-to-self connections.

Mathematics 

Students have been actively developing their problem-solving skills, approaching each task with curiosity, persistence, and a growing sense of confidence. They are learning to break complex problems into manageable steps, discuss different strategies with their peers, and justify their reasoning using clear mathematical language. Through hands-on activities, real-world challenges, and collaborative exploration, students are discovering that problem solving is not just about finding the right answer but about thinking creatively, making connections, and learning from mistakes. Their progress shows a deepening understanding of mathematical concepts and a strengthening of their critical-thinking skills.

Inquiry - Passion Projects

Students have completed their projects based on natural disasters; tornadoes, tsunamis, bushfires and floods. They created imaginative dioramas using recycled materials to demonstrate their understanding of the different elements in each disaster. Using items like cardboard, bottle caps, paper scraps, and fabric remnants, they constructed scenes of the disasters and shelters, showing both the destructive force of nature and the resilience of affected communities. As they planned and built their models, students practiced problem-solving, creativity, and collaboration, all while learning how everyday materials can be repurposed in meaningful ways.
