Principal Report

Dear Families,
What a beautiful autumn day today has been. I was treated to seeing a hot air balloon floating above Ballarat this morning on my drive to work, and thought how lucky (and cold) those flyers would have been.
Young Authors Program - Launch
Last night, the Young Authors Program was launched at a special event at Damascus College. Our group of 10 students, along with the other 72 students and their families from Pleasant Street, Lucas, Delacombe, Lal Lal and Buninyong Primary Schools got to hear from past participants and one of the local Authors, Ben Sanders. Ben will be working with them throughout the program. Ben talked to us about how every idea should ‘go in a book’ and how important our creativity is. Thank you to Jess Norris, one of the programme's organisers, who will take our Young Authors to the workshops throughout the year. We can’t wait to hear back from our Young Authors and see some of the writing they create throughout the program.
THANK YOU - Bunnings BBQ
What started out as a dreary morning turned into quite a lovely day for a Bunnings BBQ. With the assistance of our volunteers and the many families who came to support our BBQ, we raised $1830.00. A HUGE thank you goes to the team of volunteers and school council members who made this possible with your fantastic organisational skills, donations of time and items and of course, the team who showed up on the day to flip sausages, serve, and prepare food. Thank you to Steve, Meredith, Lee, Leith, Brenton, Fleur, Charelle, Simon, Stewart, Catherine, Kate, Tim, Nick, Matt, Barry and Diana. We couldn’t have done it without you.
AFL Football
This week, we had two teams of students representing our school in AFL in the Winter Sports series. Thanks to Mr Jones and Sam Peeters for coaching the sides. Both of the teams had a very successful day, and all of the students represented Dana Street Primary with pride.
Have a wonderful week,
Helen
