NAPLAN Years 3 & 5
Dear Parents/Guardians,
The National Assessment Program for Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) test is a national assessment for students in Years 3, 5, 7, and 9. It covers Numeracy, Reading, Writing, and Language skills. The test will take place from March 11th onwards. It helps see how well your child is doing in literacy and numeracy. If a student misses a test, they will complete it on another day. Missing the test day doesn't mean missing the test. If you have any questions or concerns, please talk to your child's teacher.
There are some things that you can do to help your child perform at their best every day in the NAPLAN tests:
- Encouraging your child to have a go and try their best
- Ensuring your child reads at home each night – you can further support them by asking some questions about what they have just read
- Ensuring your child goes to bed at a reasonable time, eats breakfast each morning and arrives at school on time. This will help ensure that they are refreshed and not tired for the morning of the tests. Arriving late could make them anxious.

Kind regards,
Shane Long
NAPLAN Coordinator
