Hi Families,

I want to say how much I am enjoying stepping across into the Assistant Principal role in an official capacity in Term 3. I do miss being in the classroom each day with my 3/4 students but have had a great experience connecting with all our wonderful students from Prep - Grade 6, and the wider school community! 

One of my roles, is to support the implementation of our ‘School-wide Positive Behaviour’ framework. School-wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) is a globally recognised, evidence-based framework that helps schools create safe, positive, and inclusive environments where students and staff can thrive.

As a school, we are supporting what we already have implemented, to build whole-school systems that promote positive behaviour, wellbeing, and inclusion—creating the right conditions for effective teaching, learning, and leadership across the school.

One of the exciting parts to SWPBS is to have our ‘House Point’ system revamped. As parents and carers, you may have already received a Compass notification that your child has received house points for demonstrating our school values – Responsibility, Honesty, Pride and Support. The reason for receiving the positive reward will be documented in your notification, so you know exactly why your child obtained the points! 

So far this term, as a whole school, we have given out 6,680 house points across our 4 Houses – Bradman, Freeman, Rafter and Thorpe. This equates to 668 times we have rewarded students for showing the school values – that’s amazing! This may be rewarding individual students, small groups or even whole classes! We are always so proud of our students who are being positive role models around the school.

Bullying – No Way!

455%. That's the jump in cyberbullying reports since 2019. It's the number that reminds us all why ongoing cyber safety education matters. 

"Can you tell which one of us is being bullied?" That's the question behind the Australian Government's new $10 million campaign to help spot and stop bullying in schools.  

‘Bullying No Way Week’ kicked off this week, beginning on Monday 17th August.

Below are a few cyberbullying resources provided by the ‘Cyber Safety Project’ to access:

• Cyberbullying Early Warning Signs Checklist:  Help families spot the changes that a child is being cyberbullied or involved in cyberbullying. 
• Cyberbullying Conversation Starters: Practical prompts to help parents open up the conversation, plus simple steps to report incidences.  
• Cyberbullying Podcast:  A 9-minute episode parents can listen to with their kids on the school run. An easy way to start the conversation.
