Dear School Community Members,
R U OK Day: Next Thursday (10th September) is R U OK Day. Students are encouraged to wear a splash of yellow to symbolise optimism, joy, happiness and friendship. The theme for this year is: “Ask R U OK? Any Day”. Students at Manifold Heights Primary School will participate in activities that:
- raise awareness of the support and help available for people who may be struggling
- provides strategies to reach out to someone struggling
help students begin a conversation to connect with someone who may be struggling
The R U OK website has a wealth of wonderful information that is worth exploring as a family.
Student Wellbeing – anxiety: Manifold Heights Primary School is committed to maximising the wellbeing of all students. Our commitment to the School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) framework, our engagement in the Respectful Relationships initiative, along with the support of our Chaplain, Cyndee, help harness and maximise the wellbeing of our students. Recently I met with our School Nurse, and she shared with me a wonderful website, ‘The Parents Website’ (https://theparentswebsite.com.au/). This website has many resources that resonates with me. One of the articles that I would like to share with you is authored by highly acclaimed childhood Psychologist, Andrew Fuller - ‘Depression Proofing your Children’. This article focusses on how we, as parents, can nurture our children’s ability to manage anxiety. The article provides some valuable suggestions and ideas in supporting our children.

State School Spectacular: Congratulations to our sixteen Grade 6 students who were part of our State School Spectacular team. Their performance was outstanding and we are all extremely proud of the manner in which they represented Mano. I also extend a huge thank you to Ms Schuster, Mrs Fox and Mrs Grant for their dedication and passion in supporting our students and coordinating all that goes with such a huge event.
Term 3 Social Service Activity: Our Term 3 Social Service activity has been finalised by our Junior School Council.
Date: Friday, 18th September
Purpose: Raising funds for grounds at Mano
Donation: Gold coin
Dress: Sports Colours
Students and staff are invited to come to school dressed in their Sports Colours of choice (footy colours, soccer colours, basketball colours, netball colours etc). Further information regarding the day is included in this edition of the newsletter. Once again, congratulations to our Junior School Council for their leadership across our school.
School Concert – Thursday 5th November: The excitement is building as we inch closer to our much anticipated School Concert. All students and staff are working tirelessly to ensure a fabulous show. Information regarding purchasing and booking tickets was sent home via Compass recently and is included in this newsletter. We look forward to our School Community coming together to see our students showcase their performing arts talents.
2027 Planning: To assist with our planning for 2027, if your child will not be attending Mano in 2027, please advise the office ASAP.
Father’s Day:
Happy Father’s Day to all our dads for Sunday. We hope you are all spoilt and get to spend some quality time with your loved ones. Thank you to our wonderful Parents and Friends Committee and our group of volunteers for providing the Father’s Day stall for our students.
