We’ve reached the end of Term 3 and what a term it’s been! The students have shown such curiosity, kindness and persistence in their learning. It’s been a joy to watch them grow, try new things and support one another. We’re so proud of their efforts and are excited to see what Term 4 brings!

Wellbeing

This term, we have continued our focus on building independence and problem-solving skills through our topic “How Big Is the Problem?” Students have further practiced recognising the size of an issue and choosing strategies to manage it. We have also explored individuality, celebrating what makes us unique as well as what we share with others. Through discussions, activities and role plays, students have developed greater empathy, respect and understanding of themselves and their peers, helping to build a supportive and inclusive classroom community.

Writing

This term, our writing focus has been on explanation texts. We explored the water cycle, the recycling process and why they are so important. Students have been stretching their skills with compound and complex sentences, using a variety of conjunctions to make their ideas flow. We’ve also had fun experimenting with technical vocabulary, descriptive language, sequencing words, comparisons and cause-and-effect to make explanations clear and interesting. To finish, students chose their own topics and created presentations to teach their classmates. It was a joy to watch their confidence grow and their enthusiasm shine as they shared their learning with others.

Maths

This term, students have consolidated their learning across a range of topics. We continued exploring fractions, including improper fractions, mixed numbers, and hundredths, and practised converting between fractions and decimals. Students also enjoyed learning about perimeter and area, measuring a variety of objects in fun, hands-on activities. As always, we reinforced our four operations through practical problem-solving, helping students see how maths connects to everyday life. It has been wonderful to see their confidence and independence grow as they tackle new challenges.

Discovery

For the remainder of Term 3, our Discovery focus has been sustainability. We continued exploring different types of pollution, their main causes and the impact they have on our environment. Students thought deeply about the harm caused and brainstormed practical ways they could help reduce these effects. After all their research, each student designed an invention to help reduce waste — for example, a vending machine that collects plastic bottles and dispenses socks! They then created their own prototypes to present to the class. It was inspiring to see their creativity, problem-solving skills and passion for protecting the environment shine through.
