Mr Carlyle's Message

Hello families, and welcome to our first newsletter of Term 2.
I would like to start this newsletter by conveying how wonderful it is to be back in my role here as Principal at Ballan. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks and admiration to Mr Baker, Mrs Mauriks, and Ms Nicholls for leading the school through Term 1, and for the school community, it was business as usual to start the year. Upon returning, I am reminded of how lucky we are here in Ballan with our community, friendly parents, and energetic students. As I have roamed the rooms and yard in these first two weeks, it has been wonderful to witness high levels of engagement and learning right from day 1.
It has been a busy first fortnight as well, with six classes undertaking the swimming program in week 1. The 3-6 athletics day on Monday this week was a huge success, with celebrations and photos to come in our next newsletter. Thank you to Mrs Hunter for the organisation and coordination of this event.
Anzac Day Parade
A big thank you to the students and families who represented Ballan Primary School at this year's Anzac Day Parade. A special mention to the staff and students who gathered at dawn, your representation of our school values and community pride was greatly appreciated.
E-Scooters (electric scooters)
A reminder on Victorian e-scooter rules. Please be aware that e-scooter rules have come into effect in Victoria and that children under the age of 16 are not permitted to ride them. They are also not permitted to be ridden on footpaths. Because of this, e-scooters will not be permitted to be ridden to or from school by students, and not on school grounds by anyone. Please check all the requirements on the Transport Victoria website. https://transport.vic.gov.au/road-and-active-transport/active-transport/e-scooter-road-rules

Rezoning
We have received confirmation that Ballan has been rezoned to Daylesford College. From 2027, Daylesford College will become the designated neighbourhood secondary school for students from Ballan. This change will support clearer pathways for our students as they transition from primary to secondary education. We will continue to share further information and updates with families as more details become available.
