MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL

Natalie Vulic

Farewell to Anne Trinh!

I would like to bid farewell to our much loved  Education Support Staff member, Anne Trinh. Anne’s last day at Dinjerra was on Friday 31st July.

Anne is a well loved staff member, providing support for all of our students and staff, and particularly in the Prep classroom. Anne has been studying a Bachelor Early Childhood Education and has been offered a Permission To Teach teaching position at Broadmeadows Special Development School.

You may not know that Anne was actually a former student of Dinjerra! We will miss Anne incredibly, and wish her all the best for her teaching career. Please join me in congratulating Anne on her new position.

Thank you to our helpful community!

Earlier in the week, I created a post on Compass, wondering if we had any families who could help us access a scissor lift scaffold to be used for our next mural painting. I was overwhelmed by the response! Thanks to Miguel’s family who work in the industry, we have saved our school $1900! We are looking forward to our artist, Erin Haywood, commencing her second art piece for us. This piece will be our history piece, focusing on the school and area in Braybrook back in 1953.

Also, thank you also to Ana-Maria Otalora Bonilla, mum of Thomas (Year 2), who has kindly re-designed our enrolment folders. We are very pleased with the updated design!

I do have another call out in mind, I will be in touch via Compass soon! 🙂

100 Days of School for Prep students!

On Friday 31st July, our Year Prep students celebrated 100 days of Primary School! The students have been counting EVERY school day in the classroom on their class whiteboard each day. It was lovely to see the students dressed up to celebrate the number 100, either by dressing as 100 year olds, or with t-shirts with 100 items on them. On Thursday 30th, the Preps enjoyed their first big excursion to the farm at Animal Land in Diggers Rest, where they went on pony rides, milked cows and cuddled a variety of farm animals! These are the experiences that the children will remember for years to come!

Parking Safety- Morning Drop off - Garden Drive and South Road

The parking situation in the mornings is getting dangerous. We have noticed vehicles double parking at the end of Garden Drive and on South Road. At times we have seen some cars blocking the road at the end of footpaths. This causes our walking students and families to walk around cars, which can lead to confusion and accidents. Please do not park unsafely in these areas. There is ample parking available in Melon St, or across the road in W Central Park Avenue.

Please be mindful that some children are walking or riding to school without supervision, so if you are parking illegally, they may not understand the safest way to make their way across the road.

The most ideal situation would be for families to arrive earlier, so there is not a huge traffic congestion before 9:00am. Our gate is opened and supervised from 8:45am. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

SOARing Students

Congratulations to Charli Smith - Squeaky Squadron Pigeon Racing - 1st Place

Year 5 student, Charli Smith is a junior pigeon racer at the Western Pigeon Federation of Victoria Inc. She won her junior race last weekend, where her pigeons raced home from Ouyen, which is over 400km away. We have been enjoying learning about pigeon racing now that we have a champion at Dinjerra. Well done Charli!
