Specialist Subjects

Digitech – Cam Taylor 

Students will learn how to select and use appropriate digital tools effectively to create, locate and communicate content. They will learn about binary code and how digital systems represent all data using numbers. 


Art – Carmel Fitzgerald 

In Term Three, Grade Five children will use visual arts practices to express ideas in their artworks, in particular with positive and negative space. They will demonstrate this idea using Notan art from Japan. 

 

They will demonstrate the use of different techniques, such as exaggeration and distortion, and will create plans for their artwork. Students describe cultural influences and practices on decisions about their art making. 


Music – Tania Rusbridge  

Students will explore the fundamentals of digital music production using BandLab for Education. They will learn to compose, arrange, and edit music tracks by experimenting with loops, virtual instruments, and audio effects. 

 

Through hands-on projects, students will develop creative and technical skills to produce original digital compositions.   


Indonesian- Bu Jacqui 

In Indonesian this term, Year 5 students will revise vocabulary that they have learned over the past few years including greetings, hobbies and question words to create and understand simple conversations. 


Science - Emma Jensen 

Students will learn about solids, liquids, and gases by observing their properties and exploring how they behave. 


PE - Danielle Coates & Class Teachers 

We will continue to prepare for the athletics sports. The remainder of the term will focus on invasion games, including court and field sports such as handball, lacrosse, and AFL 9s. 

 

These activities will allow students to transfer their fundamental movement skills (FMS) and understand the importance of a strong skill foundation in advancing their participation in a range of team sports.
