Welcome Back to Term 3
A very warm welcome back to all PVCC families as we commence Term 3. I trust that the holiday break provided opportunities for rest, renewal and valuable time with family and friends.
I would also like to extend a special welcome to the new families who have joined our community this term. We are delighted that you have chosen PVCC and look forward to partnering with you in your child's educational journey.
Welcoming Our New Year 2 Class
One of the highlights of the first day was welcoming our newest Year 2 class to the College.
There was a wonderful sense of anticipation and excitement as new students and parents arrived, greeted by smiling staff and friendly students. It was heartwarming to see children meeting new classmates, making new friends and beginning to find their place within our community.
Our classrooms looked beautiful, with teachers having invested significant time and care into preparing engaging and welcoming learning environments. It was evident that everyone was ready to embrace our newest students and families and ensure they felt immediately at home at PVCC.
We are excited to see this new class grow, learn and flourish in the years ahead.
Three Days of Professional Learning
Prior to students returning, our staff participated in three days of professional learning, planning and preparation.
These days provide an invaluable opportunity for our team to learn together, strengthen professional practice, align our priorities and ensure we are equipped to provide the very best learning experience for every student entrusted to our care.
A significant highlight was attending the CEN Victoria State Conference, themed Making Space.
The conference encouraged us to reflect on how we intentionally create space for God to work in our schools, space for authentic relationships to develop, space for students to flourish, and space for deep and meaningful learning. Staff engaged with a range of keynote presentations and workshops exploring Christian education, student wellbeing, leadership, discipleship and effective teaching practice.
It was both encouraging and inspiring to gather alongside Christian educators from CEN schools across Victoria and be reminded of the unique privilege we have in shaping young lives through Christ-centred education.
Across the three days, staff also spent time worshipping and praying together, recognising that our work is ultimately an outworking of God's calling on our lives.
We participated in:
- Anaphylaxis Training
- Professional Standards Training
- Child Safety training
- Whole-school strategic discussions
- Department and team planning meetings
We also came together as a whole staff to reflect on our priorities for the remainder of 2026 and begin planning for 2027 as we continue to grow as a College community.
Of course, professional learning was not all work!
There were plenty of opportunities for staff to connect over meals, share stories from the holidays, enjoy fellowship together and strengthen relationships. We even managed to fit in some group dancing, which provided plenty of laughter and reminded us of the joy that comes from being part of a supportive and connected community.
A Final Encouragement
As we begin this new term, I am reminded of the words of Colossians 3:23:
"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters."
Term 3 brings with it new opportunities, new challenges, new friendships and new possibilities for growth. As a Christian community, we can move forward with confidence knowing that God goes before us and walks alongside us each day.
My prayer is that this term will be one marked by curiosity in learning, growth in character, deepening faith and meaningful connection across our community.
