Book Week is just a page away
It’s that special time of year, when we get to celebrate books and incredible literature.
This year the Children’s Book Council of Australia Book Week celebrations will take place during the week of Monday 24th- 28th August. Our students will be immersed in stories that have been nominated as the best of the best!
Children are invited to come to school on Thursday 27th August dressed as their favourite book character. Children are encouraged to get creative with finding or making their costumes with items that can be found around the home.
The annual Book Week parade will take place in the hall at 9am. Toddlers and families are welcome to join in the fun. Happy reading!
1/2 EMERALD News
This week in Junior Emerald, the children have been learning about how special objects can tell stories. We explored the idea that certain items hold special memories and help us remember important people, places and experiences. The children shared objects that are meaningful to them and talked about the stories these treasured items tell. Here are some of our stories
Benji - My wicket keeping gloves are special because wicket keeping is my favourite position in cricket. They remind me of my favourite wicket keeper - Mark Boucher.
Enid - My Woody watch is special because I can see what time it is. It reminds me of my dad who gave it to me.
Lily - My teddy bear ‘Bear Bear’ is special because it was my first toy. It reminds me of my Aunties.
Harvey - My favourite football is special because I got it for Christmas. It reminds me of when I played football.
Stella - My seashell is special because my Dad got it. It reminds me of my day at the beach.
Anya - My drawing is of me holding hermit crabs on my holiday. It is special because they are cute and I have never held one. They remind me of my friend who has also seen one.

Emily - Photos of my dogs are special to me because they were my favourite. It reminds me of Isabelle Klee who fosters dogs and some cats.
Sophia - My bracelet that Nonna got me from Rome is special to me because it is from a far away place. It reminds me of the time I went to Noosa and me and mum went to a shop and got something similar.
