Pat Testing
Across this week and next week, our young people in Stage One, Stage Two and Stage Three will sit their PAT tests in Reading and Maths.
Progressive Achievement Tests (PAT) in schools are standardised assessments designed by ACER to measure student knowledge, skills, and understanding across subjects.
Our school uses the resulting PAT data in two main ways;
The first is identifying specific gaps in knowledge, such as a young person's comprehension level or mathematical reasoning ability so that learning sprints can be implemented to target areas of need and secondly is used as one of the data references to identify student progress from year to year to see how they are developing against learning standards.
This year, we have moved to a system of assessment that is increasingly similar to the conditions that our young people will experience in external standardised assessments such as NAPLAN or scholarship application assessments.
Although we anticipate that this will reduce the achievement data from some of our young people this year, the benefit in the long term of:
Additionally, this data will provide a more accurate data set, which our educators can use to triangulate final semester reporting results.
