Year 7 Connections - TMAG/Grote Reber Excursion

As part of our Year 7 Science unit on the sun, Earth and moon, students will participate in an excursion to the Grote Reber Museum and radio telescope at Cambridge. As part of our Deep Time unit in Humanities, students will participate in an excursion to TMAG. Students will leave and be returned to The Friends’ School by bus. 

 

Walker and Mott:  Friday 15 May          10.30 - 3.30 pm

Fry and Penn: Friday 15 May                 11.00 - 3.30 pm 

Backhouse and Oats: Friday 22 May  11.00 - 3.30 pm 

 

Students will need to bring personal medication. If you have any questions, please email your child’s Key Teacher. Please note that students should not have lunch orders on this day and should pack recess, lunch, extra snacks and a drink bottle.

Year 8 Camp - Term 2

Rustin, Stowe, and Preston 

A reminder that collection today is from Bell Street by 3.30pm. 

 

Bracey, Knight, and Tuke 

The preparation day is 18 May (Bell Street) and the camp dates are 19–22 May (Bell Street drop-off and pick-up).

Middle School Semester 1 Learning Conferences - Save the Date

Semester 1 Learning Conferences will take place in the Middle School on the following dates:

 

Tuesday 26 May           3:50pm - 6:30pm

Wednesday 3 June      3:50pm - 6:30pm

 

An email with more details and the booking link will be sent out at the beginning of next week.

Year 8 Connections -  Royal Botanical Gardens Photography Field Trip

In Connections on Thursday 21 May, classes 8 Stowe, 8 Preston, and 8 Rustin will participate in a field trip to the Royal Botanical Gardens. This excursion will support the Science curriculum as students consolidate their understanding of plant structure, classification, and scientific drawing. Students will also participate in an iPad Photography Competition as part of this trip.

 

These students will travel by bus; they will leave school at the end of recess and will return by the start of lunch. They will need to bring their (charged) iPad, pencil case, water bottle, hat, raincoat, warm clothing and appropriate footwear.

 

For any student who moves off the Middle School campus, this is a reminder that personal medication for any medical condition, including asthma and allergies, will be required for them to participate in the excursion.

Sings and Strings Concert - Change of Date - Now Thursday 28 May

Come along and support our student musicians as we celebrate all things vocal and orchestral! This concert features a wonderful variety of ensembles from across the Primary, Middle and Senior Schools. The concert starts at 6pm and all are welcome to attend this free event.

 

For families of performers, please keep an eye out for a Paperly notification in the next week or two, which will contain all the specific participation and permission details.
