Dear Old Orchard families,

We are extremely excited to announce that the Old Orchard Primary School Fete will be held on Saturday 14 November!

Our school fete is held every two years and has long been a much-loved highlight on the Old Orchard calendar. It is a day filled with excitement, laughter and community spirit, bringing together our students, past and present families and the broader community for a wonderful day of fun.

The school grounds transform into a vibrant festival atmosphere with class-run stalls, delicious food, games and rides, live entertainment, auctions and plenty of opportunities to spend time together as a community. It is one of those memorable days that students talk about for years to come.

Our fete is a great source of fundraising for our school. In previous years money raised from the fete has helped fund projects such as the redevelopment of our school oval, resurfacing our basketball and multi purpose courts, installation of our new Year 3 & 4 playground and many more projects to enhance our school.

A Community Effort

The fete is a huge undertaking and has traditionally been organised primarily by Fiona, Sheree and Pip. While we genuinely love bringing this special event to life for our school community, we have realised that to keep the fete sustainable and enjoyable for everyone, we need more hands involved this year.

Sadly, many local schools have stopped running fetes altogether. We are incredibly proud that Old Orchard has kept this wonderful tradition alive, and with a little more support from our community, we hope it can continue for many years to come.

Introducing Our Fete Day Teams

This year we are inviting parents to join Fete Day Teams. These teams will help share the workload and make the event feel like a true community effort. You don't need special experience -- just a willingness to help. Some of these teams will begin working in the lead up to the fete from Term 2, while others will assist on the day itself.  None will take up too much of your time and can be shared with others.

Prior to Fete Day

Silent Auction Team

Help source auction items by contacting businesses from our database, assist with creating hampers and photograph items for our online auction. This is all done prior to the fete and is a great one to share with a group of friends.

Entertainment Team

Help organise the day's entertainment including securing a band, arranging an MC and coordinating performances such as our student talent show and local community groups.

Advertising & Marketing Team

Assist with promoting the fete through social media, our website and newsletter, as well as organising real estate advertising boards around the local area.

Sponsorship Team

Email local businesses and organisations who may be interested in sponsoring the fete.

Adventure Bag Team

Help source items for our popular Adventure Bags that families can purchase ahead of the fete and assist with packing the bags prior to the event.

On Fete Day

Set Up Team

Assist on the morning of the fete with setting up tables and chairs, putting up signage, distributing equipment to stalls and helping the grounds come to life. Just an hour of your time would make a huge difference.

Pack Up Team

Help at the end of the day with packing up tables and chairs and returning equipment to classrooms and storage areas. This is only a 15-20 minute job but would be an incredible help at the end of a busy day.

Tradie Team

Parents with practical skills who can assist with set-up needs on the day, particularly electrical assistance and general problem solving.

Our school community is incredibly special, and the fete is one of the best examples of what we can achieve when we work together.

If you would be willing to join one of the teams, we would be so grateful for your support. Please indicate on this form which team you would like to be involved with. https://forms.gle/EvBuewAzcaLbW1Jz5

If you have any questions at all regarding the fete, please feel free to pop by the office or give us a call.

Together, we can ensure the Old Orchard Primary School Fete remains one of the most exciting and treasured events on our school calendar.

Warm regards,

Fiona, Sheree and Pip
