Principal's Report

It is with great pleasure that I introduce myself as your Acting Principal for this term. I am truly grateful for the warm welcome I have already received from the students, staff, and families. Your kindness and support have made me feel immediately at home, and I am excited to be part of this wonderful school community.

As I have spent time around the school, I have been impressed by the enthusiasm of our students, the dedication of our staff, and the strong partnerships that exist between home and school. It is clear that our school is a place where every child is encouraged to learn, grow, and achieve their personal best.

This term promises to be a busy and exciting one, with many learning opportunities, special events, and celebrations ahead. I look forward to getting to know our students and families, celebrating achievements together, and working alongside our staff to ensure every child continues to thrive in a safe, caring, and engaging environment.

Thank you for making me feel so welcome. I am excited about the term ahead and look forward to meeting many of you at school events and around the school grounds.

Navigating conflict at school

Understanding the Difference: Rude, Mean and Bullying Behaviour

At school, children are continually learning how to build positive relationships and navigate conflict. While disagreements and unkind moments can happen, it's important to understand the difference between rude behaviour, mean behaviour, and bullying.

Rude behaviour is often thoughtless or impulsive. It might include interrupting, speaking disrespectfully, or forgetting manners. While it can upset others, it is usually not intended to cause harm.

Mean behaviour is deliberately unkind and intended to hurt someone's feelings. Examples include excluding someone from a game, making fun of another child, or saying something hurtful. Although serious, mean behaviour is often isolated or occasional.

Bullying behaviour is different. Bullying is deliberate, repeated over time, and involves an imbalance of power, making it difficult for the targeted child to stop it on their own. Bullying can be physical, verbal, social, or occur online.

Helping Children Respond

We encourage students to use calm, confident responses that do not escalate the situation. Some simple, non-inflammatory responses include:

• "Please stop."
• "That's not okay."
• "I'm going to play somewhere else."
• "I'm not interested in arguing."
• "You don't have to like me, but you do have to be respectful."

Children should then walk away if possible and seek out supportive friends or trusted adults.

When Should Students Report It?

Students are encouraged to tell a trusted adult when:

• Someone is being repeatedly targeted or excluded.
• They feel unsafe or threatened.
• The behaviour continues after they have asked the person to stop.
• They see someone else being bullied.

Reporting is not "telling tales"—it is asking for help to keep everyone safe.

How Families Can Help?

Parents can support their children by:

• Listening calmly and asking open-ended questions.
• Helping children identify whether the behaviour was rude, mean, or bullying.
• Practising calm responses together at home.
• Encouraging children to seek help from a trusted adult whenever they feel unsafe or when behaviour is repeated.

By working together, we can help all students develop respectful relationships, resilience, and the confidence to seek help when they need it.

Staffing news

Elise Edwards (Foundation A teacher) is finishing at the end of Week 3, to go on Family Leave.

David Becroft has been appointed as the replacement teacher of FA and will commence from Week 3 until the end of this year. Welcome to Clyde Primary School David.

I am also pleased to announcement the recruitment of a new member joining our amazing Education Support Team. Their details will be shared with you all in the next edition of the newsletter.

If you have a child due to commence school in 2027 please remember to get your enrolment forms submitted to the front office by 31st July

Clyde's Got Talent

The countdown is on for Clyde's Got Talent 2026! Students can join us as our performers take to the stage to showcase their singing, dancing, comedy and instrumental performances.

Entry passes for the event will be available to purchase from the beginning of Week 3 until August 12th, and are available for a gold coin donation. All proceeds will go towards supporting our Year 6 Big Day Out.

Don't let your child miss this fun opportunity to celebrate the amazing talents of our students while supporting a great cause. We look forward to seeing our Clyde Primary School students support their peers! 


