Dingoes Assembly Performance
Last week was Martin’s Gully’s first assembly for 2026, and the Dingoes lead the pack by being the first to perform. The Dingoes braved the stage and dazzled their audience with a sparkling rendition of Bruno Mars’ Count on Me – they even signed the chorus in AUSLAN! AUSLAN is a visual language spoken across Australia by those who have hearing impairments, as well as by those who have family and friends who communicate through sign language. Here at Martin’s Gully, we have been lucky enough to have Miss Kelly teach us new signs every Monday. The Dingoes worked really hard with Miss Randall to learn to sing and sign for their performance and they should be very proud of themselves. Well done, Dingoes!
Road Maps and Songlines
In Geography, students have been learning about roadmaps, freight routes, and Songlines. Songlines are the traditional means by which Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people once navigated the land. They would sing about their travels as they moved from one place to another and the song they sung would describe their route and guide the way. Songlines are an important part of Aboriginal history and culture. Stage 3 students have made informative posters about Songlines to others how they work, and why they are important. We hope you enjoy learning about Songlines from some of our posters below:
NAPLAN
As Year 3 and Year 5 students begin NAPLAN this week, we would like to wish them good luck! We would also like to tell them what no test can: You are AMAZING! Just remember, NAPLAN does not measure kindness, honesty, integrity, creativity, perseverance, resilience, passion, bravery, uniqueness, or kindness, nor is it always the best reflection of a child’s abilities. Each and every one of our students is fabulous in their own way. So, to our Year 3 and Year 5 students, never forget how amazing you are!
Best wishes,
Miss Randall, Mrs Bull and Mrs Waters
Harmony Week
Next week is Harmony Week. The ongoing theme of Harmony Week is ‘everyone belongs’. Harmony Week is a time of cultural respect for all. By participating in Harmony Week activities, we can learn and understand how all Australians equally belong to this nation and enrich it.
