A new year - a new beginning

Welcome to our school families for the 2026 school year.

Each class has begun the year by creating class prayer cloths and crosses, which will be central to prayer and meditation in classrooms. Photos will be shared in upcoming newsletters, and the prayer cloths and crosses will be blessed by Fr Darien at our Beginning of the School Year Mass.

Last year, the Catholic Church celebrated a Jubilee Year with the theme Pilgrims of Hope. Throughout the year, students shared their hopes, and we encourage them to continue to keep these hopes alive through their words and actions.

In 2026, we commemorate the 800th anniversary of the death of St Francis of Assisi. Pope Leo has dedicated this year as a special Jubilee Year in his honour, and students will make connections with St Francis in their learning throughout the year. Further information will be shared in future newsletters.

The following link from the Melbourne Catholic Archdiocese website provides a general introduction to St Francis of Assisi and the special Jubilee Year.  https://melbournecatholic.org/news/pope-proclaims-jubilee-to-mark-800th-anniversary-of-st-francis-death

Students from different levels will be involved in the readings for the Mass. Mrs Lampe and the school choir will lead the singing.

Each class prayer cloth and cross will be blessed by Fr Darien during the Mass, as well as the Year Six Leaders badges. The badges will be presented to the Year Six Leaders at the conclusion of the Mass.

If you are available, we hope to see you in the Church.
