Welcome to week 6

Naranga staff are Learners too.

On Monday Naranga staff participated in a professional development opportunity at Willum Warrain. Staff were guided by Uncle Peter through a Cultural Awareness program. Willum Warrain “home by the sea” is a gathering place where people come together to understand and increase knowledge of First Nations’ culture and history.

At Naranga we are committed to developing a positive climate for learning and development where our school community demonstrates a high level of respect and inclusion. One of the activities we completed was to create a meaningful piece of art for our school community. It was a wonderful way to start the week.

Our preparations for the Naranga swimming program have begun. The Department of Education requires schools to deliver swimming and water safety education as part of the Health and Physical Education curriculum. The Junior school swimming programs will take place in October and the Senior and Pathways students will participate in Life Saving Victoria water safety sessions in November.

A reminder to please check Sentral to give permission for students to attend, medical forms will also be coming home with students over the next week. Thank you in advance for returning these to the office as soon as possible.

We continue this term with our focus on digital learning and online safety education. Many of our conversations with students focus on help seeking strategies and how to be a safe and responsible online digital user. Our school expectation is for students to either leave mobile phones at home or place personal devices in the provided lockable phone box in classrooms. This provides the opportunity for students to be free from technology distractions throughout the day. We appreciate parents/carers support in reinforcing our school expectations.

The SRC have finalised the Naranga Cow naming competition.

Daisy was the winning name. I know we are all looking forward to finding Daisy a suitable place in the Naranga Garden when she is finished being decorated.

Have a happy weekend I am looking forward to seeing everyone in Book week costumes next week.

Thank you to the families that have contributed to the school survey. Please remember there is still time to participate, the survey remains open until Friday 30 August.

WE WANT OUR PARENTS / CAREGIVERS / GUARDIANS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!

Our school is conducting the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.

Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.

The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 29 July to Friday 30 August 2024.

All families are invited to participate in the survey.

Your child should have brought home a hard copy of the below on Tuesday. Once one parent/carer completes the survey return the slip to the front office or to your child's teacher to go in the raffle to win a $50 Woolworths Voucher.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.
