The Sandringham College Library Website is an incredible resource for students. Students can access the many databases and digital resources the library subscribes to via the website 24/7, knowing that the information they retrieve is authoritative and relevant.
Some of the resources available are...
WorldBook Online
Worldbook Online is an encyclopedia that provides fact-checked articles that are relevant and also updated in real time. In addition, students can access primary source documents. Students can access the read aloud feature or change the font to open dyslexic font for students who may need additional support.
NewsBank
This resource features a wide variety of credible, vetted news sources from more than 200 countries, which allows exploration of diverse perspectives and useful information on virtually any topic. The home page has links to The Age, The Herald Sun, The Australian, The Financial Review and The Guardian.
Online Referencing Generator
To make life easier, the Library has subscribed to a referencing generator tool. The reference generator offers a junior, middle and senior level. It has been developed by teacher-librarians to assist students and give them an understanding of how to complete a bibliography or reference list.
Sandringham College uses the APA Style 7th Edition for referencing.
Gale - Global Issues in Context
This database covers many world issues and is a great place to search for ideas when deciding on issues to study. There are over 600 topics offering authoritative resources.
ClickView
ClickView is home to curated, curriculum-aligned, ad-free videos for every subject and learning level.
eBook and AudioBook Platform
24/7 access to eBooks and Audiobooks. Dyslexic friendly functions.
LinksPlus
Access to authoritative, fact-checked websites via the library catalogue.
Topic Guides
Topic guides on the website are created in consultation with teaching staff. They may include videos, news items, and background information on a topic. They are a great information source for students and can also be an introduction to a learning tool used at university.
All of these resources are password protected.
I would like to express my gratitude to the parents of Sandringham College for your contribution to the Library Fund. Your financial support goes towards resources for our students. Contributions to this fund help pay for subscriptions to World Book Online, eBooks and audiobooks, the Library Website, Reference Generator and other resources that provide support to our students' academic pursuits.
