What a busy term in Performing Arts! As most of you know I am still recovering from a hip replacement/break and I will be needing my other one done so I'll be hobbling around for most of the year unfortunately, but that won't slow me down!
I wrote a song for the preps called "Welcome to the first Day of School" which swifty turned into "Welcome to Bundoora Primary School". All the pre/1/2 students have loved singing it each week!
All classes have been learning about music theory this term and practicing the Nation Anthem and School Song. Grade 3 students have loved receiving and playing their recorders, and the grade 4 students have improved so quickly! The grade 5/6 students played off against each other in a Quiz Show, with students in our audience helping with questions through singing and drawing songs! There were also prizes for "who am I?" Questions- they have been so engaged!
I spent 3 weeks auditioning students for "Bundoora's Got Talent" during my spare recesses and lunchtimes. It was so hard to pick finalists, however everyone who auditioned got a chance to perform for their class and received special certificates. Well done everyone!!! Looking forward to the final Thursday morning in the hall, all welcome!
Congratulations to the Band and Choir on their performances on the Family Welcome Night, and Choir at the Banyule Eco Festival! Brilliant!
BPS has also been accepted to perform at this year's Victorian State Schools Spectacular held at John Cain Arena in September. Selected students have been chosen and they are very excited as we will see our own Aaradhana perform her solos on the mail stage and it will be on Chanel 7!
Stay tuned for next term as the Prep/1/2 students will be rehearsing for their mini-concert "The Witch's Party" that will be held in the school hall at the end of term!!! (date TBC). Auditions will also commence for a Musical Production that I was lucky enough to win online! This will be open to 5/6 students with performances in term 3. Watch this SPACE!
