Dear Parents and Guardians,

This year the library will be hosting a Lamont Book Fair in May. The fair will arrive on Wednesday the 15th of May and will be opened to parents and guardians before and after school from 8.30 am Thursday the 16th until Tuesday the 21st of May, when the book fair will close at 4.00pm ready for the book cases to be picked up and returned to Lamont.

Lamont Books is an Australian owned and run book supplier that is based in Victoria. The books they select and send to schools vary in titles from a wide range of publishers. This means that students will have the chance to look at books that they may not have seen before. Parents may also be glad to know that there will be no posters for sale and only a limited selection of rubbers and pencils.

During the Lamont Book Fair, each class will be given a time slot to browse the book fair and fill in a WishList and another time slot to purchase as a class. It will be up to parents to decide which books the students get, if any, as there is no obligation for parents and guardians to purchase anything.

If you should decide to allow your child to purchase a book, there are a few ways you can do this.

  1. You can entrust your child with the money to purchase the book during their class’s allocated Buying Time on Monday or Tuesday.
  2. You can visit the fair before or after school and purchase the items in person with cash or EFTPOS, between 8.30- 9.00am or 3.15-4.00pm Thursday, Friday, Monday and Tuesday.

Or

  1. You can use the information on the back of the WishList to purchase the items online. Lamont sends a list of all items ordered and who ordered them to the Book Fair Organizer each morning, so that items can be set aside ready for collection, during class buying times. This online platform will be closed at noon on Tuesday the 21st of May, to allow time for Lamont to send the final orders to the book fair organizer before the fair closes. Allowing the organizer time to find the books that have been paid for and set them aside to be collected and allows time for re-orders to be submitted prior to the end of the fair.

Please do not try to collect these books before or after school as the fair is too busy at these times. Any orders not collected during class buying times will be sent to classrooms at the end of the fair.

At the end of the Fair the school will receive 30% of the total sales as commission to be spent on books for the library.

If you are willing and able to help with sales before or after school please email me at jessica.skerry@education.vic.gov.au and I can let you know, where we need help the most.

Happy Holidays,
