 Kindergarten — Week 10 Newsletter

Kindergarten had an amazing time this term travelling back in time during our Time Travellers – Play, Learn and Belong unit!

Throughout the unit, students explored the concepts of past and present, discovering just how much everyday life has changed over the years.  Using stories, photographs, images, cultural objects and artefacts, students investigated what life was like long ago and compared it with the way we live today.

One of the absolute highlights was getting up close with objects from the past.  The students loved examining all of the old and interesting items that were brought into the classroom. There were plenty of curious faces, excited guesses and lots of questions as students tried to work out what each object was, what it was used for and who might have used it.  Some objects were familiar, while others had everyone completely puzzled!

This is an example of one of the objects that the whole class was unsure of what it was and what it is used for.  Do you know what it is?

Our young historians were fascinated to discover how people managed everyday tasks before the technology and modern conveniences we have today. They enjoyed comparing then and now, sharing their own ideas and listening to stories about what school, homes, toys, communication and everyday life were like in the past.

It was fantastic to see just how much the students loved learning about the past. Their curiosity and enthusiasm brought our classroom to life, and every new object seemed to spark another question or discovery.

As we come to the end of another busy term, we would like to wish all of our wonderful Kindergarten students and families a very happy and safe holiday break.  Thank you for your continued support throughout the term. We hope everyone enjoys a well-deserved rest, some special family time and plenty of fun.  Happy holidays!

Library / Science & Technology Term Snapshot

A Busy Term of Learning

It has been a wonderfully full term, and we wanted to share a snapshot of some of the highlights our students have enjoyed both inside and outside of the classroom.

Book Week

Book Week was a standout.  Students arrived dressed as their favourite characters, and the parade was a riot of colour and creativity.  Classes spent the week exploring shortlisted titles, sharing recommendations and taking part in reading activities across the school.  Thank you to the families who helped pull costumes together — the effort did not go unnoticed.

Drone Workshop

Some of our Stage 3 students took part in a hands-on drone workshop, learning the basics of flight, safe operation and simple programming.  Guiding a drone through an obstacle course took patience and plenty of trial and error, and the concentration in the room was something to see.

Gardening Club Launch

Our new Gardening Club 2026 is up and running.  Members have prepared beds, planted seedlings and set up a watering roster.  Along the way they are learning about soil, seasons and where food actually comes from.  Donations of seeds, seedlings and gardening gloves are always welcome.

Science Week

Science Week brought a run of investigations and demonstrations across all classes.  Students asked questions, made predictions and tested them, and discovered that an unexpected result is often the most interesting one.  Our Stage 3 leaders helped make the day possible by organising hands-on experiments for our younger students.

3D Printing

Students have been designing and printing their own models, moving from a sketch on paper to a digital design to a finished object they can hold.  Watching a design fail, working out why, and adjusting it has been just as valuable as the printing itself.  Stage 3 will present their 3D printed landform or landmark as part of their ‘World Fair’ display which is taking place on Thursday.

Researching Dinosaurs

Our dinosaur research unit has produced some genuinely impressive work.  Students chose a species to investigate, gathered information from a range of sources, and presented their findings to the class.  Ask them about their favourite — you may be there a while.

Landforms: Wind and Water Experiments

Students set up their own models to test how wind and water shape different landforms. Using sand, soil, rocks and water trays, they observed erosion and deposition in action and recorded how various surfaces responded.  It was messy, memorable science, and it gave students a real sense of the forces that shape the landscape around them.
