Dear Parents,

We are all enjoying this gorgeous weather and loving being outside during the day. It is a timely reminder that whilst the mornings are still cool and we require jumpers, and that navy blue broad brim hats are essential every day. Please ensure all items of clothing and belongings have your child's name written on them. Our lost property bin is again overflowing and I encourage parents to come and check it for any lost belongings.                                                                 

Last week, Grace represented the Western Region at the NSW PSSA Football Championships in Tuggerah. The three day tournament saw Western play 7 games in total, coming away with 1 win and 1 draw against some very competitive teams. Playing in defence, Grace was very busy, getting lots of field time and playing her very best. Grace said it was a great experience and we are all very proud of her. 

Thank you to everyone who participated in Redtember on Wednesday. Our school was a sea of red. Well done, everyone. As a school we collected $421.00, which will be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities. 

Today, our Support Unit children attended the Multi Sports Day at the Bathurst Indoor Sports Centre. A successful day was enjoyed by all of our children. Thank you to the many staff that attended the day and ensured our children had a wonderful day.

Good luck to our children attending the Western Athletics Carnival in Dubbo tomorrow. We know every child will do their absolute best and represent Bathurst Public School and Bathurst PSSA extremely well. The team consists of Logan Davis, Patrick Muldoon, Leo Shoemark, Lilly Turnbull, Sethina Addo, Scarlett Swift, Charlie Seager, Poppy Holman, James Hollier, Jemimah Lyle, Boston Hurditch, Mia Walker, Addison Jones and Lilly Guihot.

The more your child attends school, the greater their opportunity to learn, create social connections and improve their wellbeing. 

What you can do - Building positive attendance habits

You can help build positive attendance habits by: 

• helping your child learn the importance of punctuality and routine
• making sure your child arrives on time from the start of the school day, ready to take part 
• reducing disruption to learning where you can, by planning any necessary appointments outside of school time 
• contacting your school to explain any absences (within 7 days of the first day of any absence) 
• making sure any holidays or medical appointments are taken outside school hours
• working with the school to encourage and support regular attendance. 

Reasons for missing school

• If your child misses school for any reason, please explain it through the Parent Portal or by contacting the school within 7 days.
• If your child needs to arrive late or leave early, please notify the school.
• If you have difficulty getting your child to school on time every day, please also contact your school. School staff are here to support you and your child to help them come to school.

Our 10 Day Term 4 Intensive Swimming Program will occur from Monday 23rd November - Friday 4th December at the Manning Aquatic Centre. This program will be open to all children from Kindergarten to Year 6. Qualified swimming instructors employed by the Manning Aquatic Centre will teach the children. Sessions will be 45 minutes long and will run for 10 days between 9.15am. and 2.00 pm. School staff will accompany children to and from the pool. The cost will be $105.00 for the 10-day program, including bus travel, facility entry, and professional instruction. You can pay through our Sentral Parent Portal or at the front office by cash or EFTPOS. We are not accepting Active Kids and First Lap vouchers this year. If you would like your child to attend, please answer the questions through the Sentral Parent Portal. The Portal does not provide or update medical information. Please contact the front office with any medical updates. Please pay a $50 deposit to secure your child's position in the program by Thursday, 24th September. Please pay the final balance by Friday, 6th November. After this date, no refunds will be available. Parents will be informed of their child's class details before the program begins. Parents are asked to contact the school and update their child's medical information closer to the start of the program if necessary.
