What's Your (Faith) Story? - Pastor Michael 

Relationships are interesting aren’t they! There’s the ‘Getting to know you stage’... 

the ‘Can I really trust you?’ stage... and then the ways the relationship develops over time.

How about our relationship with God? He is always there... desiring to connect with us, wanting us to walk life’s journey with him, loved and secure.

But what does that actually look like in someone’s life? 

Let’s hear from one of our new Pastor Michael, as he shares some of his Faith Story.

How did you first hear about God?

It was when I was a child. After dinner, mum and dad would get out a bible with pictures. My sisters and I would hear a story. I remember hearing about God, but also hearing about people who trusted God, like Moses, David and Samson. 

Can you describe a time when it was hard to trust God?

A number of years ago I didn’t have a job. I had a wife and two children at school. My wife had a part time job and I was thinking, ‘How are we going to survive?’ I was asking God ‘What do I need to do?’ I did trust him, but I didn’t know how things were going to work out. 

How did that story end?

It was day by day. We wondered how we were going to cover expenses. Somehow things happened. My wife got a bit more work or I got some work. Some money came in. Each day we kept trusting that God would provide. Now I’ve got a good job, but I know whatever happens, God will continue to look after me and my family and I will trust God.

Is there a particular bible verse that is important to you?

I learnt this one a long time ago. It is about trust.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart. Never rely on what you think you know. Remember the LORD in everything you do, and he will show you the right way. Proverbs 3:5-6   TEV (now known as GNT)

It helps me remember what trust is.

What is your current relationship with God like? 

I’m in partnership with God. At the start of the day I wonder, ‘What are we going to today God? What are you going to do and how can I be a part of that.’ I think, ‘Lord, how are we going to handle this?’ I’m a partner in the family business... God’s family business.

Describe Jesus using 3 different words. 

Adventurous, Amazing, Faithful!

What is one of your favourite worship songs?

My Lighthouse! It talks about whenever the storms in life try to get to us, we have someone who is with us. We can trust in Jesus!
