I Need To Learn From My Mistakes!

Hi E4veryone. I hope all of our families are having a great week so far. Today has been quite an interesting affair as I have just released myself from being taped to the wall near the canteen once again and some areas of skin is missing due to some strategically placed pieces of packing tape! I am asking myself this question, 'Why am I sucker for punishment?' I placed myself in the exact some position as last year and again I volunteered myself to go through this humiliating process! I really thought it wasn't going to end with a number of students eagerly purchasing a large number of strips. It will take time but  I will definitely get my revenge on some certain individuals who took great pleasure from my discomfort. The things you do for a good cause.

Other than that, our Mini Vinnies team should be very proud of how successful each of the fundraising activities that raised funds for Catholic Mission that will go towards assisting those in need in Timor-Leste. Funds have been tallied today totalling $238.45. Also, there were definitely a lot of interesting hairdos and socks worn today and I do hope there will be no complications in attempting to eliminate the various colours and dyes that were used. Thank you everyone as all of you should be very proud of your achievements.

School Satisfaction Surveys

Last week, I received the results of the St Patrick's school satisfaction surveys.  This survey, conducted by an outside provider, surveys parents, staff and students across the schools in the Armidale diocese.  The results were strongly positive and affirming of our school from our parents:

I haven't received the comments as yet as the Catholic Schools Office are compiling the comments made by our parents, staff and students in Years 4-6 into themes that will be released later during the term. The results obtained from the staff and the students who took part in the survey mirror many aspects of what our parents and supporters have expressed. This information will be very beneficial in helping us to move forward into the next academic year.  I would like to thank the parents, staff and students for their feedback, providing us with data on which to reflect and plan for the future.

Well Done Annie!

It was great to hear that Annie, Grace S, Lachie and Jessica did very well at the Polding Athletics Trials held in Sydney on Friday. Unfortunately, Jessica had to pull out of the running events due to her injury but she was placed 16th overall in the Junior Girl Discus. Grace S came 8th overall in the Junior Girl Shot Put, while Lachie gained 15th in the Senior Boys 1500m.

Annie had a great day as she came 7th in the Senior Girl 1500m and 12th in the 200m. But it was in her pet event, the 800m, where Annie excelled as she won the Senior Girl 800m with a time of 2.31.83. You should be proud of yourself Annie knowing that you are the fastest Senior Girl in 800m from all of the primary Catholic schools across the northern half of NSW. Annie will now be representing Polding at the NSW PSSA Athletics Carnival in Sydney on Wednesday and Thursday next week. Good luck and we will be definitely cheering you on!

Real Talk Workshop for Years 4 and 6 students

On Tuesday Mrs Harrison and myself accompanied our Years 4 and 6 students to the Real Talk Workshop held at St Joseph's Primary School, Uralla. The students participated in a number of tasks based on exploring self-image, making good choices, cyber safety and the impact that social media can have on our lives. The students had a great day and hopefully, we will be able to host the Real Talk Workshop next year.

End of Year Presentations

It is not that long before we will be formally acknowledging the student's achievements for this academic year. Although our End of Year Presentation Night was a great event last year, it simply took too long! This year is also our allocated year where all of the classes are involved with a whole school performance. The play has been selected, roles have been allocated and all of our students have begun practising their acting and dancing moves for our performance of 'The Dragon Returns' which will be on Wednesday 29th November, commencing at 6.00 pm at the Walcha Multipurpose Centre.

It has been decided we will not be having our Year 6 Graduation Ceremony, classroom and perpetual awards on the same night. So on Thursday 7th December, we will be having our annual Schools Presentation Night under the school COLA, followed by a barbecue, where all members of our school community are invited to join us. More information concerning this event will be released soon.

Year 3-4 Excursion to Thalgarrah

The Year 3-4 students will be participating in an overnight excursion to Thalgarrah Environment Education Centre on the 23rd and 24th of November. Mrs Makeham and myself will be supervising the students on this excursion. Information was sent home to all families today via Compass.

Year 5-6 Excursion to Coffs Harbour

It is only a few more sleeps before students in Year 5-6, Mrs Davey and myself will be heading off to Coffs Harbour. Looking at the itinerary, it is definitely going to be an action-packed four days. Some of the activities that we will be taking part in include: visiting the Butterfly House, the Botanical Gardens, the Dolphin Marine Conservation Park, exploring Dorrigo National Park and that is only just the tip of the iceberg.

Parents and students are reminded that they need to be at St Patrick's by 7.30 am at the latest on Tuesday morning.

All information, (itineraries, what to pack, etc) are included in the links below.
