Hello from Foundation Q 

Literacy

We have been enjoying writing in many different ways through out the term. We can write our plan for Investigation Time, sequence the steps used for procedures, and write recounts about things we have done. Here are some of our favourite pieces of writing:

Numeracy

We have been exploring measurement this week measuring our feet and items in the classroom using informal units such as paperclips, teddies, dice, and icy-pole sticks. To measure effectively items need to be placed touching, end to end in a straight line. We measured our bodies by tracing around them and sorted them by length and height. Paper plane making was lots of fun on Thursday especially when we got to fly our paper planes to see how far they travelled some of them went a very LONG way!

Swimming

Swimming at Peter Krenz has been a highlight for us this term. We loved going to the pool each day even though it was very tiring!

Buddies & Procedural Writing

During buddy time this term we have been looking at procedural writing. We have explored how to:

• make jam toast
• make a kite
• make popcorn

School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS)

Our focus this term has been on Respect and Inclusivity. We had a multi-cultural show and tell afternoon and were able to bring an item, photo, or story from our culture or heritage to share with the class. It was interesting to learn about different cultures.
