Mr Matt Elson

Hello Gympie East parents, carers and community,

Exciting news from the Department, that we have been granted an extra classroom teacher due to our student enrolments. This will mean as of Monday, we will have eight classrooms. We are very happy to have Ms Mia Hacker join Staff, as she is very familiar at Gympie East doing a number of long contracts for us. Ms Hacker knows our school processes and even volunteered for the week before school returned, so she will be able to smoothly step in onto 3H. We don't mind having composite classes, but it is a positive that each class will be focussing on one year level of curriculum this year.

Prep R - Mrs Tash Riley

1J - Ms Emma Jensen

2G - Ms Megan Gray

3C - Mrs Michelle Crawford

3H - Ms Mia Hacker

4H - Ms Sam Heathcote

5P - Ms Rhonda Perrett

6C - Mrs Jenny Chammen

Our PBL focus for this week was to 'Be a team player'. This is a PBL focus that I could clearly see being practiced around East this week, because it is something we embrace. If someone is in need, we lend a hand. We don't leave others out of games and work together for a common goal. Well done to all students for being team players!

Our PBL focus for next week will be 'pick up school litter/use correct bins'. We have a beautiful school and part of the messages next week will be around ensuring we keep it free of rubbish but also the importance of using the correct bins.

Meet & Greet

Please remember to RSVP for the Meet & Greet on Monday 23rd February from 5-7pm. You can pay and RSVP on Qkr. $15 per family for pizza and garlic bread is a great deal. Drinks will also be available for purchase.

Chickens

Our chicken coop is finished! This has been a long time coming and it is very exciting. We ordered our flash, vermin-proof coup last year (in green colours ofcourse). Ms Heathcote's class hand-raised our chickens and they are now in their home and flourishing. Finally, we received a very kind donation from Gympie Hearing to pay for the fenced area, so our chickens can get out and explore during the daytime. Gympie Hearing do a fantastic job of serving our local Gympie community with comprehensive hearing assessments to advanced hearing aids and ongoing support. Thankyou!

Now it is time to name our chicken coop. We will have a competition running for the best name. Puns are most welcome, use your imagination. We will have a box in the Office for submissions! Competition closes Friday 13th March.

Thanks

Mr Matt Elson
