Welcome back to Term Three. I hope your family enjoyed a restful break and that students are feeling refreshed and ready for what promises to be a rich and exciting term ahead.
This term brings with it some of the most memorable and meaningful moments in our school year. While we always place a strong focus on literacy, numeracy and academic achievement, many of the biggest ‘wins’ we see for students come from experiences beyond the classroom.
One of the standout parts of Term Three is our camps program. Camps are an incredible opportunity for students to build independence, develop their social and daily living skills, and try new things in supported and inclusive settings. For many students, it is their first time staying away from home, and they rise to the occasion with confidence and courage. Whether they are trying a new food, zip-lining, making their bed, or just being part of a group in a new environment, these experiences create lasting memories and meaningful growth. This term includes camps for both Junior and Senior students, including visits to Camp Kookaburra, UMY Camp, and even a Junior School Sleepover for some of our younger students.
Another major highlight this term is our 2025 Debutante Ball, taking place early in the term. This is more than just a formal evening. It is a powerful celebration of growth, belonging, and achievement. Many of our Debutantes have been with Banmira since they were toddlers, and the Ball is a stunning recognition of how far they have come. It is always a deeply moving and joyful event for students, families, and staff alike.
In Week Five, we will be celebrating Book Week across both campuses, with our Senior Campus students visiting Junior Campus at Parkside Drive to take part in a special day of literacy-themed fun. Book Week is a time to celebrate the magic of reading and language, and we encourage students (and staff!) to begin planning their book character costumes now. There will be a range of literacy-rich activities throughout the week to engage our students in creative and meaningful ways.
