Junior School

As Term 2 draws to a close, we pause to give thanks for all that has been accomplished across our Junior School. It has been a rich and rewarding term, filled with growth, learning, creativity, and perseverance. From classroom discoveries and sporting achievements, to musical showcases and quiet moments of character development, we have witnessed the unique gifts God has placed within each child continue to flourish.

Throughout the term, our students have grown not only academically, but also spiritually and socially. We are reminded of the words in Ecclesiastes 3:1 – There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens. As we enter the winter season and begin a period of rest, we pray this upcoming break provides each family with time to slow down, reconnect, and be refreshed.

The winter holidays offer a valuable opportunity to create faith-filled moments at home. In the stillness of the season, may we each be reminded of Psalm 46:10 – Be still, and know that I am God. Here are a few meaningful ways families can nurture connection and faith during the break:

  • Family Devotions: Take time to reflect on God’s Word together. Even a short Bible verse and conversation can be a source of strength and comfort.
  • Acts of Kindness: Look for opportunities to serve others, such as helping at home, writing a card of encouragement, or donating to those in need.
  • Enjoying God’s Creation: Embrace the beauty of winter through nature walks and notice God’s handiwork in every season.
  • Gratitude Journals: Encourage children to write or draw something they are thankful for each day, developing a heart of thankfulness.

During Chapel in Week 10, we had the joy of recognising students who have consistently demonstrated the core values of ROAR—Respect, Obedience, Acceptance, and Resilience. These qualities are an important part of who we are as a school, and it is always encouraging to see them lived out in practical ways.

We extend our congratulations to the students who received ROAR awards this term. Your quiet leadership, kind choices, and steadfast attitude have set a Christ-like example for your peers. Thank you for modelling the heart of our school values so well.

The final weeks of Term 2 have been filled with wonderful opportunities to celebrate student learning and creativity. Our Junior School Ensemble Evening was a joyful occasion, showcasing the talents of our choirs and instrumental groups while highlighting the dedication of our music students and staff. In the classroom, our Year 3/4 Conservation Conference Expo and Year 5/6 Travel Expo provided students with the chance to exhibit the depth of their learning from throughout the term. These events not only reflected strong academic achievement but also allowed students to grow in confidence as they presented to an audience. We sincerely thank the many parents and family members who attended and supported these celebrations of student effort and achievement.

As we look ahead to Term 3, we do so with great anticipation, trusting that God will continue to guide our journey. A particular highlight will be our Junior School production of Alice in Wonderland JR.— to be held at LMC on the evenings of Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11 September. All Prep – Year 6 students will participate, and we look forward to seeing students shine on stage in a celebration of student talent, teamwork, and creativity. Please put these dates in your diary today and look out for further information about ticket sales in Term 3. We look forward to sharing this exciting event with our school community.

Volunteer Induction Session

We warmly invite parents who have not yet been involved in volunteering within our Junior School to attend our upcoming Junior School Volunteer Induction Session on Tuesday 12 August at 3.00pm in the Upper Primary Building Theatre. This session is essential for those wishing to become approved volunteers and will outline the responsibilities and requirements for supporting our students and staff in various capacities. All necessary information regarding the approval process can be found in the notice published on the school app. We value and appreciate the partnership of our parent community and look forward to welcoming new volunteers into this important aspect of school life.

Semester 2 Parent-Teacher Interviews

Staff, including our specialist teachers, look forward to meeting with parents in Term 3 to discuss Semester 1 reports and ways to support student learning at school and home. Parent-teacher interviews will be held onsite in Junior School on Thursday 21 August (4.00pm - 8.30pm) and Friday 22 August (10.00am - 4.00pm). Please note that Friday 22 August, is a Student-Free Day.

As we move into the holidays, we pray that this winter break brings rest, warmth, and meaningful time spent with family. Whether enjoying slow mornings at home, exploring God’s creation, or simply taking a well-earned pause, may each family find moments of joy and peace. We look forward to all that Term 3 will bring as we continue to grow and learn together in faith and community.

But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

Isaiah 40:31

We are having a fundraising Lunch With Amari on Thursday 14 August. Pizza and a drink will be $7 or parents can make a donation order on the Flexischools app.
