What Did You Do At School?

Prep

As the term has drawn to a close, the Prep students have enjoyed spending quality time with their Year 6 Buddies. They have worked together designing sunglasses and playing board games. This week, we learnt the word ‘tray’, and our fine motor skills were up to the challenge of making an origami tray. We would like to congratulate the Prep students on an outstanding first semester of school.

Year 1

This term, our budding Year 1 storytellers have been immersed in the world of narrative writing. From creating imaginative characters to building settings that spark curiosity, students have been learning how to plan, draft, and edit their own creative stories. They have explored the structure of narratives, focusing on showing, not telling, through the thoughtful word choices they make. Many students have taken inspiration from their own experiences and life around them to produce excellent pieces of work.

Year 2

In Year 2, we’ve been busy using our creativity and imagination! In Integrated Studies, we have enjoyed making thoughtful gifts from recycled materials. We chose a special person we care about and designed a unique gift just for them. After finishing our creations, we wrote heartfelt letters explaining why we made the gift and what it means to us. We hope our recipients loved their handmade surprises!

In Mathematics, we started an exciting new topic: capacity! We have been exploring how much water containers can hold—and we have been surprised to find that some hold more or less than we expected. It has been a fun and hands-on way to learn about measurement.

In Writing, we have been learning how to write narratives. Each week, we have worked hard to improve our storytelling by including key features like characters, settings, and interesting plots. This week, we wrote our own stories all about treehouses. It has been so much fun to imagine exciting adventures in treehouses!

Year 3 & 4

Conservation Conference

Year 3 and 4 students ended Term 2 on a high note with the launch of their incredible Integrated Studies projects, showcased at the Conservation Conference on Wednesday, 2 July. Each student selected an endangered animal—from majestic snow leopards to rugged rhinos—and explored it’s habitat, diet, features, conservation status, and a few wild and wonderful facts. This project brought learning to life across multiple subjects. In the Library, students became curious researchers, gathering information from a range of sources. In DigiTech, they transformed their findings into engaging digital slideshows, while in Visual Arts, they let their creativity shine through colourful and detailed artwork inspired by wild animals.

The final displays were proudly presented to parents, teachers, and classmates. It was a fantastic celebration of learning—and a reminder of how powerful young voices can be in protecting our planet's precious creatures. We are so proud of the effort, creativity, and heart our students put into these projects. What a great way to finish the term!

Year 5

We have enjoyed a wonderful conclusion to Term 2 in Year 5.

In Integrated Studies, we have been busy learning about countries from Europe and North America. We researched our chosen countries in small groups, exploring their culture, weather, cuisine, attractions, and more. Using this information, we carefully planned the perfect getaway, including flights and accommodation. To celebrate our learning, we held a Travel Expo on Wednesday 2 July, where we proudly showcased all we had discovered.

Semester 1 has been filled with opportunities for growth in academic learning, social connections, and spiritual development. As we look ahead to Semester 2, we are excited to continue building our knowledge, deepening our friendships, and strengthening our leadership skills.

Year 5 & 6 Travel Expo

Year 6

Numeracy FUEL Classes

This term, we have been exploring the concept of geographical maths. Mrs Taylor has inspired us to use the Cartesian Plane to plot coordinates and has taught us about compass bearings, utilising both protractors and compasses. We applied this knowledge in a geocaching activity, where we created a treasure hunt using compasses for direction and metre wheels to measure distance.

Compass bearings are used in air travel for planes. If the angle is incorrect, the result could be disastrous. We have been working to ensure our angles are accurate and are representing them with three digits. Our group has learnt a lot of knowledge this term and are very grateful for the opportunity to grow mathematically.
