New Goal Post and Basketball Post Covers

Families may have noticed the installation of new protective covers on our goal posts and basketball posts. These additions not only enhance the appearance of our outdoor learning and play spaces but, more importantly, provide an extra layer of safety for students during Physical Education lessons, sport and recess and lunchtime play.

We are committed to continually improving our school environment and ensuring that our grounds remain safe, welcoming and enjoyable for all students.

As we move towards the King's Birthday long weekend, it has been wonderful to see the rich learning opportunities and strong sense of community that continue to make Cheltenham East Primary School such a special place.

Reconciliation Week

Last week, our students and staff participated in activities to acknowledge and celebrate National Reconciliation Week. This important week provides an opportunity for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to consider how we can contribute to reconciliation in our everyday lives. Through classroom discussions and learning experiences, students explored the significance of respect, understanding and inclusion, helping to build stronger connections within our community.

Living Cultures Incursion

Our Year 3 students recently participated in a fantastic Living Cultures incursion. Students were engaged in hands-on learning experiences that deepened their understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and perspectives. The incursion provided meaningful opportunities for students to connect their classroom learning with authentic cultural experiences and was thoroughly enjoyed by all involved.

Year 5 STEM Experience

Our Year 5 students were fortunate to visit Cheltenham Secondary College for a STEM incursion. Students participated in a range of engaging activities that challenged them to think critically, collaborate with others and apply their problem-solving skills. Experiences such as these help foster curiosity and inspire students to explore future pathways in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Athletics and Soccer Clinics

Students across the school have also enjoyed participating in athletics and soccer clinics as part of our Physical Education program. These sessions have provided valuable opportunities for students to develop new skills, build confidence and enjoy being active. A sincere thank you to Mrs Robinson for her organisation and coordination of these wonderful experiences for our students.

Winter Warmer Drive

Thank you to all of our families who generously contributed to our Winter Warmer Drive on Monday. Your donations will make a real difference to members of our wider community who may be doing it tough during the colder months. I would also like to acknowledge our Junior School Council, whose leadership, organisation and commitment helped make this initiative such a success. We are incredibly proud of the way they continue to demonstrate our school values through their actions

F-2 Cross Country

The event was filled with smiles, encouragement and plenty of school spirit, with students cheering on their classmates and celebrating each other's achievements. Whether students were aiming to finish the course, improve their personal best or simply give it their best effort, every participant demonstrated our school values through their participation and positive attitude. Thank you again Mrs Robinson for organising.

Division Cross Country

Congratulations to all of our athletes who proudly represented Cheltenham East Primary School at the Division Cross Country Championships held at Cornish College. Competing at this level is a fantastic achievement and reflects the dedication, perseverance and commitment our students have shown throughout their training and preparation.

All of our students represented the school with pride, demonstrating excellent sportsmanship and determination on a challenging course. We are incredibly proud of their efforts and the way they supported one another throughout the day.

A special congratulations to Alisha 4B and Noah 5A, who have qualified for the Regional Cross Country Championships. This is an outstanding achievement and recognition of their hard work and talent. We wish them all the very best as they prepare to compete at the next level and represent our school once again.

Fire Brigade Visit

There was great excitement across the Foundation area this week as the local Fire Brigade visited our school. Students had the opportunity to learn important fire safety messages, explore the fire truck and meet the firefighters who help keep our community safe. It was an engaging and memorable experience that supported students' understanding of safety in a fun and interactive way.

As we head into the long weekend, I would like to thank our students, staff and families for their ongoing support of our school. I hope everyone enjoys a safe, relaxing and happy King's Birthday weekend with family and friends.

Warm regards,
