Principal's Message

From the Desk of Kathy Nott - Term 2, Week 6

Good morning, Parents/Carers,

Behaviour Focus

Our behaviour focus for Week 6 is Safe:

We are learning to:

  • Keep our hands and feet to ourselves

  • Respect sporting equipment

We are successful when:

  • Use feet to kick a ball

  • Use hands safely

  • Respect people's personal space

  • Put all equipment away when finished playing

  • Use the right piece of equipment for the right job

Turn Up Awards

The "Turn Up" award was introduced last year to encourage our students to attend school every day.  Each day your child attends their name will be entered into the draw to receive a paddle pop voucher.  A voucher will be issued each week to each class.  If your child attends 5 times in that week they have 5 entries.  If they attend two days in that week they have 2 entries. Congratulations to our winners for Week 5:

K/1B -      Skylar

2/3O -       Indy

4/5/6T -   Emily

Permission Notes on Sentral

It seems we have resolved the issue with permission notes on Sentral.  All permission notes moving forward should now allow you to respond via the app and we will now endeavor to send all school related permission notes via the app.  PSSA permission notes and those requiring more information to be provided, will still remain in paper form.

Attendance Matters

Congratulations to the 21 students who are part of our 100% Club.  These students have attended school 100% of the time in Term 2.

We have 36 Students in total attending 90% or above.  Keep up the good work as attendance matters.

If your child is to be absent from school for any reason, please ensure you contact the school office to advise or reply to the SMS message that is sent on the day of absence.  It is important that we notify the department the reason your child is not attending school.

Cold & Flu Season/Illness

With the weather changing and coming into the cooler months, cold and flu symptoms and other contagious illnesses start to appear due to more time indoors.  In the interest of keeping our school community well we ask if your child is displaying cold, flu or other symptoms of illness, please ensure they are kept home and monitored and return once symptoms have subsided.  Symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea must be kept at home and can return to school 48 hours after the last episode.  If you are unsure, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.

Small Schools Sports Day

WCPS hosted the Small Schools Sports Day last, Wednesday, 20th May. We welcomed students from Blackville, Premer, Spring Ridge and Walhallow for a series of sporting activities, games and dance.  Our sausage sizzle lunch was cooked by the Lions Club of Werris Creek, and we thank them for their help.  Thank you to the Parents/Carers who purchased lunch for their children.  We appreciate it.  Lastly, thank you to all staff and students for making the day such a success. Check out our photo gallery on the Small Schools Sports Day Tab.

School Assembly

We will be holding our School Assembly this Friday, 29th May at 2:00pm.  K/1B will be performing an item.  All welcome to attend.

Parent/Carer Survey

The Parent/Carer Survey will close this Friday, 29th May. This survey is for Parents of students in Yrs 3-6.  The survey gives you the opportunity to share your experience at our school, including communication, inclusion, wellbeing and how your child's learning is supported.   The link to have your say is:

https://surveyme.education.nsw.gov.au/sc/7bBF-dPJwf7Au4phlKIxxA2

Hearing directly from our parents and carers will help us understand what's working well and where improvements can be made. Participation in the survey is optional, your responses are anonymous, and it takes around 10 to 15 minutes to complete.

Kind regards

Kathy Nott
