Final Days:

I have thoroughly enjoyed my last few days at KTHS.

Thanks to the staff and students who have made my last days at KTHS even more memorable.

I was especially humbled by the General Assembly, the time, the activities and the response of everyone.

Have a great holiday and be ready for the new Principal, Mr Klate McFarlane, who will commence Term 3, on Monday, 13th July.

Over the past few weeks KTHS has been celebrating the retirement of Dean Rogers at the end of the holidays. The significant achievement of 40 yrs in the teaching profession, 21 years at KTHS and 15 years as Principal.

Dean Rogers has made a significant impact across all aspects of KTHS but also the Kerang community. Being a Principal - is quite a significant profession. You start as a teacher – learn your craft – move through roles wearing many hats.

You are a:

Mentor
Operational daily tasks
Wellbeing counsellor
Accountant
Speech writer
And ultimately create a culture of an educational institution.

It has been great that Dean leaves KTHS with some of the best DATA the school has seen in a very long time. The framework of education at KTHS is set up for the future and any challenge that may arise.

Important facts since Dean Rogers commenced at KTHS

1820 students have gone through the school.

250 Staff have been worked at KTHS

12 staff are still here that were at KTHS before Dean commenced in 2005.

48 current staff have started since 2005.

33 staff have been at KTHS for under 5 yrs

13 staff were born after Dean commenced teaching.

I would like to thank Dean on behalf of the school for his guidance, direction, and stewardship over the past 21 years. Life as a teacher and finishing just short of 40years of service illustrates your commitment to this profession. Please enjoy your retirement with your family, trips overseas and the road trips you have planned.

We would like to thank you all for being here with us today to farewell Kerang Technical High School’s dedicated principal, Mr Dean Rogers.

Over his years at KTHS, Mr Rogers has made a positive impact on our school community. His commitment to the quality of education and to the sense of belonging our school provides has been admirable, with two decades of students benefitting from his outstanding devotion.

Mr Rogers, on behalf of the student body, we would like to thank you for all the work you have done over many years to make this school such a special, kind and inclusive place to be. We hope you are proud of your contribution, and we know we speak for everyone here when we say we are extremely thankful for all you have done to make this school the great place it is today.

Whether it is talking to students at recess or lunch or having a chat with people studying in the library, it is evident to us all that you are genuinely interested in not only how we are going with school but also our lives in general. Your willingness to get involved and interact with students on a personal level is admirable and accurately reflects the friendly nature of the staff and students at this school.

We are sure we speak for everyone at KTHS when we say it has been an honour and a pleasure to have you as our principal. This school simply will not be the same without you. You bring an incredibly positive attitude to all that you do - whether you are teaching lessons, participating in sporting events or simply chatting with students throughout the day. Your constant positivity adds an extra spark to our school environment and encourages us to do our best.

If you were to ask any of us to name the qualities which make you so likeable and approachable, we would certainly point to your kindness and the genuine friendliness you show to everyone around you.

Mr Rogers, thank you again. We have a deep sense of appreciation and gratitude for the years of hard work you have devoted to our school. You will be greatly missed, and although we are all sad to see you go, we wish you nothing but the best for the future and hope you enjoy the relaxation of a well-deserved retirement.
