VCE/Subject Selection Information Night

Choosing senior school subjects is an important milestone, and it was wonderful to see so many students and families attend our VCE and Subject Selection Information Evening on Wednesday 15 July.

The evening provided valuable information for our current Year 9 students selecting subjects for Year 10, and our Year 10 students preparing for VCE and their transition into Year 11. Families were encouraged to approach subject selection thoughtfully, focusing on four key considerations:

• Choose subjects you enjoy
• Choose subjects you are good at
• Select subjects that align with your skills and interests
• Keep your future options open

A key message shared during the evening was the importance of completing secondary school in today's labour market. As increasing numbers of people hold post-school qualifications, including Certificate III level qualifications and above, successfully completing secondary education provides an important foundation for future study, training and employment opportunities.

Students were reminded that while it can be tempting to select subjects based solely on perceived career pathways or what friends are choosing, they are more likely to achieve success when they select subjects that genuinely engage them, match their strengths, and spark their interest. Enjoyment and confidence in learning can play a significant role in maintaining motivation, achieving strong results, and ultimately reaching the finish line of secondary school.

Tertiary Early Entry Program Information Session

Year 12 students attended an information session on Monday 20th July on Early Entry Programs (EEP). 

Tertiary early entry programs in Victoria allow Year 12 students to secure conditional university offers before completing their final exams. These programs bypass traditional ATAR pressure by evaluating students based on Year 11 results, leadership, community involvement, or school recommendations.  Some EEPs are also available to international students and students undertaking an unscored VCE program or VCEVM.

All year 12s are strongly encouraged to lodge an EEP application so that they can increase their chances of obtaining a conditional course offer prior to completing the school year.  All EEPs have closing dates so it’s important to note these to avoid disappointment.
