Little Scientists, Big Ideas - Term 3 STEM Afternoon

A massive congratulations to all of our incredible students and staff for their hard work, energy, and enthusiasm during our term three STEM Afternoon. Across the entire school, our learning communities were buzzing with excitement as students dove headfirst into exploring creativity and critical thinking through hands-on problem-solving and design.

Here is a glimpse of how each learning community tackled their big questions and brought their ideas to life:

  • Foundation: Our youngest learners stepped into the world of design and storytelling by exploring the question: “How can we use our creativity and materials to bring a story character to life?” To answer this, Foundation students wrote information pieces and designed their very own toys!

  • 1/2 Learning Community: The Grade 1 and 2 students put their creative minds to the test with the challenge: “How do we use our creativity to tell a story in a fun and exciting way?” Students wrote an engaging story and crafted their own puppets to bring their narratives to life.

  • 3/4 Learning Community: Taking a journey back in time, our Grade 3 and 4 students investigated dinosaurs through the lens of: “How can we use our creativity to bring the hidden stories of Earth's past to life?” They became paleontologists and curators, designing and creating a brilliant dinosaur museum.

  • 5/6 Learning Community: Our senior students tackled big-picture thinking through the prompt: “Scientists tell the hidden stories of our world. How can we use their discoveries to design a green, thriving world for the future?” Engaging in the design process, they identified real-world issues and developed innovative solutions for a better future.
