Well, Term One has seen students engaging in the Arts with so much enthusiasm!
In Visual Arts, students have spent time experimenting with lettering and different techniques to create their portfolio covers, which are beautiful works of art in themselves. Some are on display in the senior corridor. We have also been creating some collaborative artworks, whereby each student may continue to add their contribution as the year goes on. The Kaleidoscope piece that can be seen in the senior corridor invites everyone to make a contribution, regardless of size, shape, colour or style. Our friends at Bunnings donated an enormous box of paint sample cards, allowing us to use the whole colour spectrum to create our own unique offering. Hopefully this work will continue to grow as the year goes on.
Our Year 3 and 4 students participated in a collaborative STEAM/Arts project, where they made paper form recycled news and magazine print. It was a beautiful, chaotic experiment, with everyone loving the opportunity to get messy and creative.
In Performing Arts, students are getting on with the job of making music together. It's a joy to hear xylophones, percussion instruments, recorders and beautiful voices drifting out of the performing arts space each week. The choir have already performed their first repertoire, receiving rave reviews form parents and teachers alike. Many more of those to come! Our Year 5 and 6 students are about to embark upon the epic Music Video Project. Some of you may remember this from 2 years ago, and how engaged and enthusiastic students were. This year we have made a few tweaks to streamline the process, and students are already bristling with ideas.
As we work towards our whole school song for Harmony Day, students are learning to take their singing skills to new heights!
